The role

As a founding fullstack software engineer on our Fullstack Excellence Platform squad, you’ll help shape the technical foundations that drive our applications—both internally and externally. You’ll own and improve our core front-end infrastructure (including UI test frameworks, component libraries, and micro-frontend architecture), while also contributing to security, scalability, and DevOps best practices.

This team’s mission is key to keep our engineering efforts at the cutting edge, providing efficient and secure solutions for both internal product teams and external customers. You’ll work alongside experts in front-end, back-end, security, and infrastructure, delivering seamless developer experiences and world-class user interfaces.

You’ll juggle platform-wide initiatives—like standardizing UI components and advising on security and infrastructure—alongside hands-on feature development for our internal products, plus supporting the transition of select apps for external release. In doing so, you’ll work closely with product, design, and engineering leaders to ensure our platforms meet and exceed expectations. Your contributions will set engineering standards across teams and applications, fostering a culture of technical excellence throughout the organization.

Challenges you will own

  • Prepare internal applications for external usage – Making sure we can deploy with confidence, to secure and stable applications that are loved by our customers.
  • UI Test Frameworks – Making sure our tests are reliable, easy to maintain, and well-integrated with CI/CD.
  • Component Library & Micro-Frontend Infrastructure – Building scalable, reusable solutions that help product teams move faster.
  • Security & Infrastructure Consulting – Embedding best practices for frontend security, performance, and reliability from concept to production.
  • Product Feature Development – Occasionally collaborating with teams to deliver high-quality features for both internal and external users.

About you

In order to set you up for success as a Fullstack Software Engineer at Wayve, we’re looking for the following skills and experience.

Essential

  • Good development skills in JavaScript, with knowledge in TypeScript
  • Experience writing unit, UI, component or end-to-end tests
  • Experience with React (or similar front-end frameworks)
  • Passionate about writing clean, robust and maintainable code
  • Advocate for improving reliability, observability and operability of systems
  • You have a track record of promoting engineering best practices in teams
  • You have excellent communication skills

Desirable

  • Experience in setting up test frameworks
  • Experience in micro-frontends
  • Experience setting up and maintaining UI libraries
  • Experience with security (mainly authorization) for frontend applications
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure and/or GCP)
  • Experience with Python or other Backend programming languages.

This is a full-time role based in our office in Sunnyvale.  At Wayve we want the best of all worlds so we operate a hybrid working policy that combines time together in our offices and workshops to fuel innovation, culture, relationships and learning, and time spent working from home.  We operate core working hours so you can determine the schedule that works best for you and your team.

#LI-FH1

We understand that everyone has a unique set of skills and experiences and that not everyone will meet all of the requirements listed above. If you’re passionate about self-driving cars and think you have what it takes to make a positive impact on the world, we encourage you to apply.
