Software Engineer III, Android Core, Devices Software

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree in an industry setting.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience with full stack development, including back-end (e.g. Java/Kotlin/C++) and front-end Android UI toolkits.
• Experience collaborating across teams (or even across companies) to build products and define requirements.
• Experience in working with large codebases.
• Experience in Android mobile app development.

• Gain an understanding of the users' needs and goals, and how those fits into the rest of their journeys throughout Android. Collect feedback during development, pivoting and adapting the feature as needed.
• Work within Android OS codebases owned by other teams, build team relationships and learn new codebases.
• Discuss the partner team's requests together to understand both the user need and alternative solutions.
• Build Android APIs and features that will be used by partner team apps like TalkBack which serves blind users or Voice Access which serves users with motor impairments.
• Gain familiarity with the partner team's product so that you can ensure both sides of the puzzle fit together.
