Kaluza reimagines energy to bring net-zero within everyone’s reach. The Kaluza Platform enables energy utilities to unlock the full value of a radically changing energy system and propel us to a future where renewable energy is sustainable, affordable and accessible for all.

From automating and simplifying core operations including billing to create a lower-cost, higher-engagement experience, to optimising energy usage across smart devices in the home, we turn tough challenges into win-win-win outcomes for customers, suppliers and the energy system.

We have a strong flexible, hybrid working ethos, we aim to be as flexible as possible to balance work with life. Teams can choose how and where to work, whether it’s from one of our lovely offices or from home or a mixture of both. Each team is different but we do like to get together monthly/quarterly as teams - if they are not at your local office we will cover the costs of travel and accommodation if necessary. As a company we come together annually for our conference and end of year celebrations!

Where in the world of Kaluza will I be working?

You’ll be working in Kaluza’s Data Products team, at the intersection of our core platform, our clients, and the data that underpins every energy product we offer. This team provides the analytical insights, and machine-learning (ML) products that power smarter decision-making across the platform. From building ML models that are implemented and scaled across Kaluza to driving customer-facing analytics and insights, your team’s work will be central to helping Kaluza and its clients to harness the full potential of their data and drive the future of AI in energy.

You’ll be joining the Kaluza Product community. We’re a group of Product Managers and Leaders focused on translating complex needs into simple and innovative solutions that solve real customer and business problems.

What will I be doing?

As the Product Manager for Data Products, you’ll work with engineers, data scientists, and other domain experts to build scalable data analytics and AI/ML-enabled products that help our clients to reduce their operational costs and support our mission to decarbonise the lives of their customers. Your team will work with data from a diverse array of sources - from smart meters, IoT connected smart devices, pricing and billing systems, third-party datasets to products used by platform users such as Customer Service Agents. Your team will both build such products independently as well as build tooling and document best practices that make it easier for other product teams to deploy data products of their own.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the creation of your team’s Objectives and Key Results and provide the product leadership necessary to help your team achieve amazing outcomes
  • Gain a broad understanding of the various Kaluza Product areas - Billing & Payments, Customer Care, Energy Commerce and Energy Optimisation - and how AI/ML and analytical products can unlock value in each of those areas
  • Work with our amazing software engineers, data scientists and designers to create solutions that drive value for energy retailers/utilities
  • Collaborate with the Product Marketing team to discover market-specific needs and bring new products to market
  • Own, refine and maintain a prioritised product backlog for your team
  • Work with your team to build and measure the right metrics for product success and nurture a culture of learning from data
  • Find the right channels to remove impediments for your team
  • Run agile ceremonies including sprint planning, retrospectives, backlog refinement and showcases for your team
  • Radiate information, improve transparency and communicate effectively to internal and external audiences

Is this the job for me?

You’re the right person for us if you…

  • Have 3+ years experience as an agile Product Manager working on data platforms or AI/ML products
  • Keep up with and play around with AI trends and are excited to apply them to energy applications
  • Are comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where fast iteration and experimentation are the norm
  • Excel at written and visual communication to both technical and commercial audiences
  • Thrive at managing stakeholders, with the ability to value and juggle competing priorities and influence decisions at all levels of the organisation
  • Are a patient and tenacious problem solver who is willing to roll up their sleeves to learn and understand a domain despite limited knowledge or experience in it
  • Are passionate about decarbonisation and are highly driven to achieve your professional & personal goals
  • Are a team player who embraces collaboration and knowledge sharing within your team and across different teams - but recognize that the “buck stops with you” on all team decisions
