ROLE/RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Compliance department employs professionals globally to establish and enforce the Firm’s compliance policies supporting investment and trading activities. The Compliance Officer will work closely with fellow compliance and business personnel, providing compliance support to the firm’s global systematic trading strategies. Responsibilities include:
- Play a leading role in executing the Firm’s regulatory update process: monitoring, tracking, summarizing, and communicating rule changes, enforcement actions, and reg news.
- Research regulations and their impact to new business, markets, and trading initiatives.
- Develop, maintain, and enforce the Firm’s written policies and procedures.
- Perform ongoing training of Cubist investment professionals.
- Advise on current and prospective systematic trading strategies.
- Maintain and prepare project plans for key compliance projects.
- Work with cross functional teams to design and maintain compliance systems and reports.
- Steer firmwide projects from system implementation to regulatory and data initiatives.
- Perform monitoring tasks and desk reviews.
- Research broker and regulatory inquiries.
- Assist with compliance testing programs, including annual trade surveillance testing.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5 years of relevant compliance advisory experience, JD degree preferred.
- Securities law and/or macro expertise required.
- Project management experience and ability to handle multiple projects at a time.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong research skills, including synthesizing research into clear and concise summaries.
- Basic understanding of trading across multiple asset classes a plus.
- Experience partnering successfully with business colleagues.
- Prior experience with electronic trading and exposure to quant finance a plus.
- Ability to have technical conversations and research technical issues with quant teams.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, planning, and organizational skills.
