Purpose of Role
The Summer Associate role involves working as a member the Private Equity Energy and Infrastructure deal team in Tokyo, applying research, analysis and financial modelling skills to assist in the discovery and tracking of investment opportunities and to support Investment Professionals in executing and managing transactions.
This will encompass gaining exposure to the different phases of originating and executing upon investment opportunities and may potentially include involvement in portfolio management or an exit process.
During the 8–10-week placement, you will travel, restrictions permitting, to the Actis Head Office in London giving you the opportunity to learn more about Actis and the firm’s core values. You will meet and network with Actis Professionals and your fellow Associates.
Main Responsibilities (this list is not exhaustive)
− Scoping and analysis of a focus sub-sector in Asia
− Supporting prospective and live transaction process including financial modelling, due diligence, and Investment Committee preparation
− Supporting the preparation of an investment opportunity analysis
− Preparation of internal approval documentation
− Build operating and financial models
− Put together investment committee papers / other presentations under the guidance of Principals/Directors
− Day to day monitoring and asset management
− Conduct / coordinate due diligence of assets
− Contribute actively to building investment thesis / discussions with other internal / external stakeholders
Knowledge
Candidates selected for interviews should meet the following criteria;
− Strong analytical skills, including building robust financial and operating models
− Proven commercial track record in business and finance
− Understanding of financial statements and valuation frameworks including financing concepts
− Proactive, self-starter; ability to conduct detailed Energy Infrastructure analysis with limited supervision
− Highly organised and focused
− Project management and ability to drive initiatives through to completion
− Excellent research, writing and communication skills
− Collaborate effectively with others, including senior managers and external parties
− Strategic, analytic, and numeric thinking capability
− High personal impact with an ability to influence others in a positive way – a team player
− Pursuit of MBA/CFA qualification is beneficial but not essential
− Fluent/Business Proficiency in English
− Associates are expected to be internationally orientated as they will work with colleagues from our various offices worldwide.
