About this role

The Discovery pillar’s mission is to make it easy and delightful for retailers to find brands and products their customers will love. Search is the largest discovery surface by order volume. Whether a retailer has a broad idea of what they’re looking for or knows exactly what they want, Search enables them to confidently and efficiently discover the right products and brands for their store.

As a Product Manager for Search, you’ll own one of the most critical levers of our business and take on some of the hardest, highest-impact problems at Faire. You’ll work on the end-to-end strategy, execution, and optimization of Search across the platform, shaping how retailers navigate our vast catalog and ultimately grow their businesses.

This role sits at the intersection of advanced machine learning, retail behavior, and user experience. You’ll work closely with a world-class team of data scientists, engineers, designers, and researchers to drive our Search roadmap—focusing on key areas like relevance, ranking, query understanding, and overall search UX.

What you’ll do 

• Develop and execute an end-to-end product strategy and roadmap for Search—spanning algorithms, infrastructure, and user experience
• Deeply understand the range of retailer search behaviors, from broad discovery to precise product lookup, and design experiences that support both.
• Analyze key query types and failure modes to identify new opportunities, diagnose root causes, and improve outcomes across a wide spectrum of retailer intents
• Evolve our suite of online and offline metrics to more accurately reflect search relevance, system performance, and overall user satisfaction
• Partner closely with engineering and machine learning teams to drive ongoing improvements in ranking, retrieval, query understanding, and personalization
• Balance near-term wins with long-term investments in advanced search capabilities and scalable infrastructure
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Brand, Retailer Growth, and other Discovery pods to ensure Search supports broader marketplace and business goals
• Communicate roadmap, decisions, and progress to senior leadership, including company founders and the CEO
• Empower small businesses around the world to chase their dreams and invest in their local communities

Qualifications

• 8+ years of product management experience at a high-growth tech company or as a startup founder, with significant ownership of Search, recommendations, or other ML-powered systems; marketplace experience is a plus
• Demonstrated ability to build high-scale products in close partnership with engineering and data science, especially those involving complex ML infrastructure and algorithmic decision-making
• Fluency in using ML/AI to solve business problems, with a strong grasp of current advancements; direct experience working on Search or ranking systems is a strong plus
• Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to define the right metrics, analyze system performance, and identify unintuitive solutions to complex product challenges
• Relentless resourcefulness and bias for action, with a track record of executing effectively in ambiguous environments with limited information
• Intellectual curiosity and learning agility, with the ability to quickly ramp up on technical domains and dive deep with engineering and ML teams
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including experience aligning execs and cross-functional partners around strategy, trade-offs, and execution plans
• A leadership presence grounded in optimism, passion, and positive energy—you inspire and influence cross-functional teams not just through clarity of thought, but through your drive and conviction to build great products for customers

Salary Range

San Francisco, CA and New York City, NY: The pay range for this role is $215,500-$296.500 per year. 

This role will also be eligible for equity and benefits. Actual base pay will be determined based on permissible factors such as transferable skills, work experience, market demands, and primary work location. The base pay range provided is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

Effective January 2025, Faire employees will be expected to go into the office 2 days per week on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Additionally, hybrid in-office roles will have the flexibility to work remotely up to 4 weeks per year. Specific Workplace and Information Technology positions may require onsite attendance 5 days per week as will be indicated in the job posting.
