About the role

We are looking for a hands-on Drone Data Collection Pilot to join our team. This is an entry-level role ideal for someone with a Part 107 certification, a passion for drones, and a willingness to spend most of their time outdoors flying. You will play a key role in collecting and managing large datasets, supporting engineering teams with valuable insights and reports. This is a unique opportunity to play an essential role in shaping Skydio’s innovative products.

Employment Type: This will be a fixed term, 1-Year contract.

How you’ll make an impact:

  • Operate quadcopters, multi-rotors, and fixed-wing drones in various field environments.
  • Collect high-quality data for engineering teams, ensuring accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Manage and sync large amounts of data, organizing and reporting findings.
  • Debug and troubleshoot drone operations with a keen attention to detail.
  • Work closely with engineers to refine collection methods and optimize workflows.
  • Be hands-on and adaptable—this is not just a testing role but a field-heavy data collection position.

What makes you a good fit:

  • Part 107 certification is required.
  • Experience flying quadcopters, multi-rotors, or fixed-wing drones (RC experience is acceptable).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to troubleshoot in the field.
  • Comfortable working outdoors for extended periods.
  • Must be located in or near the Bay Area, CA with the ability to commute to HQ and SF.
  • Entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply—industry experience is not required, but a solid understanding of drones and flight operations is essential.
  • Experience operating Linux based systems
  • Demonstrated passion for things that fly
  • Thorough communication and documentation skills

Compensation Range: This is a fixed term position with a limited duration as outlined in the job description. The hourly wage range for this position is $30-$40 per hour. Compensation will vary based on factors, including skill level, proficiencies, transferable knowledge, geographic location and experience. Fixed Term employees may be eligible to participate in the Company’s group health insurance plans after fulfilling tenure and waiting period requirements, subject to the terms and conditions of the plans.
