Key job responsibilities
* Drive technical innovation in security automation, data protection, and privacy-preserving technologies, with focus on developing scalable solutions for cloud environments
* Design and implement frameworks and tools for data and system protection, analysis, and verification
* Lead research and development efforts in AI security, specifically evaluate emerging threats and opportunities, including securing Generative AI systems and designing robust safeguards
* Proactively identify and explore new opportunities for deploying data protection solutions across AWS services and customer use cases

- PhD, or Master's degree and 6+ years of applied research experience
- Experience programming in Java, Python, Rust, C++, or related languages. Experience building scalable software solutions or tools for machine learning, AI systems, data privacy, security, or automated reasoning- Deep knowledge of cryptographic protocols (e.g., homomorphic encryption, secure multi-party computation, zero-knowledge proofs) or in designing and implementing privacy-preserving machine learning systems (e.g., federated learning, differential privacy). Experience developing and deploying Responsible AI tools or frameworks, including bias detection, adversarial testing, explainability, robustness, or compliance with regulations like the EU AI Act.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $150,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $260,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
