The Special Investigations Investigator's primary responsibility is to safeguard Lyft by conducting investigations, liaising with law enforcement, and implementing mitigation strategies. This role will support diverse business areas, including risk, community safety, customer care, Flexdrive, and Lyft Urban Solutions (LUS). The Investigator will foster robust relationships with internal business partners, law enforcement agencies, and other third parties to achieve successful case resolution.

This role regularly interacts with federal/state/local law enforcement in developing comprehensive and detailed cases pertaining to organized offenders. You will use your expertise to gain buy-in from law enforcement agencies to assist in the mitigation of these groups' impact. The role will act as an internal subject matter expert on investigations, criminal organizations and law enforcement operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Investigate business threats across a wide range of disciplines. 
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to build strong and productive partnerships.
  • Triage and identity potential risks stemming from investigative leads sent to the Special Investigations Team. 
  • Proactively identify gaps and risks relating to Lyft’s lines of business and provide mitigation solutions. 
  • Create detailed and precise presentations and investigative reports to document findings and advise business leaders and partners. 
  • Support requests from law enforcement on high priority and complex investigations. 
  • Conduct outreach and training with law enforcement agencies to enhance partnerships and goodwill. 
  • Proactively identify public safety issues and drive internal awareness and solutions. 
  • Conduct and lead complex investigations related to organized crime and advise internal leaders and business partners.
  • Ability to communicate with large audiences including varying degrees of seniority.
  • Comfortable testifying in criminal and civil court proceedings. 
  • Support Lyft’s Global Security and Executive Protection programs on an as needed basis. 
  • On-Call Availability: This role requires a clear understanding that you will be on call and expected to handle situations outside of standard 9-5 business hours. You must be willing to step in and assist when needed, regardless of the day or time.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%. 

 

Experience & Skills:

  • Extensive experience working with law enforcement authorities, including gaining buy-in to resolve investigations and interfacing with international agencies.
  • Articulable experience working with fraud, insurance, online safety and/or threat investigations.  
  • Investigative experience identifying, resolving, conducting root cause analysis, and recommending mitigation and deterrent enhancements.
  • Outstanding written, verbal, electronic communication and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to track, prioritize and drive multiple concurrent projects.
  • Ability to make independent decisions within a broad procedural framework
  • Be able to work autonomously and function in a schedule working alone.
  • Have strong organizational and follow-up skills.
  • Self-sufficient, highly motivated with desire to learn new technologies and industries.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment with consistency and reliability.
  • A creative problem solver who finds ways to show positive impact. 
  • Highest level of integrity and management of confidential information.
  • Bachelor’s degree.

The expected base pay range for this position in the Nashville area is $108,240 - $135,300. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location. Range is not inclusive of potential equity offering, bonus or benefits.
