We are seeking an Applied Scientist to accelerate the growth of Amazon Internal Auditβs Data Science & Risk Intelligence initiatives. The team builds ML and AI solutions that expand self-service data utilization by audit teams, utilizing the right methods to derive deeper patterns, and surface insights to gain holistic perspectives while amplifying potential risk mitigation.
Key job responsibilities
- Work with audit teams, product managers, engineers, and more senior scientists to contribute to machine learning and generative AI products that have degrees of ambiguity, scale, and complexity.
- Perform statistical analyses and modeling using SQL and scripting languages like Python/R with big data to develop insights and recommendations to improve internal audit cycles.
- Assist in architecting secure and scalable solutions leveraging AWS machine learning, AI and Generative AI related services, working closely with auditors to understand their business needs.
- Contribute to the full development cycle of machine learning models and generative AI solutions: design, prototype, impact assessment, A/B testing, production deployment, maintenance, and improvement.
- Help maintain the team's ML Infrastructure, including production and experimentation environments.
- Collaborate with software development engineers on scientific projects.

About the team
Internal Auditβs mission is to help our businesses improve controllership, operational efficiency, and customer experience. - Master's degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, machine learning or equivalent quantitative field
- Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language
- Experience with SQL and an RDBMS (e.g., Oracle) or Data Warehouse
- Experience researching about machine learning, deep learning, NLP, computer vision, data science- Experience implementing algorithms using both toolkits and self-developed code
- Experience in solving business problems through machine learning, data mining and statistical algorithms

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $212,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
