Airbnb's Public Policy Team works closely with governments at various levels, parliamentarians and policymakers, regulators and law enforcement agencies, public entities, industry associations, research institutions and academia, user communities, as well as the broader public, to introduce them to the numerous benefits of the sharing economy exemplified by Airbnb and its corporate values. We work across the region, drawing on a wide range of policy tools and campaign disciplines - from detailed policy work, through high-impact strategic partnerships, community organising, creative initiatives, informative polling, innovative data science and research, and persuasive policy narratives and campaigns.

The Difference You Will Make:

The Policy Media team is the creative engine of the Public Policy team, and helps positively shape the conversation around relevant regulation and community commitments through targeted initiatives. We build and design campaigns and content to win over our external stakeholders, experiment with new ways to tell the Airbnb story more effectively and creatively, and partner with internal teams to execute on and achieve a shared vision.

We are seeking a hands-on, strategic and creative campaign expert to support our public policy goals and campaigns in Asia Pacific with a focus on Australia and New Zealand. This person would be a strategic thought partner to local policy teams, responsible for scaling political engagement, designing policy marketing and amplification campaigns from strategy to completion, tracking, reporting and iterating on campaigns to maximise cut-through. The ideal candidate would also be an expert at internal and external stakeholder management, engaging and aligning with cross-functional and external organisational partners to ensure project success.  

A Typical Day:

Campaign Strategy and Content Development

  • Lead and drive end-to-end scaled political outreach and amplification campaign strategy to support public policy goals in Australia and New Zealand, including messaging, audience targeting,  content development, media channels, budget and project management and performance analysis and reportingAct as creative thought partners to the local Public Policy team in Australia and New Zealand, brainstorming and designing campaign ideas and content based on available data and insights that help engage external stakeholders, hosts, guests and local communities  
  • Act as a thought partner and play a key role in reactive campaign development, deployment, activation and crisis communications management
  • Oversee and drive the creation of organic and paid content for various platforms in line with campaign strategy, including social media, emails, landing pages, display, print ads etc, ensuring all content is consistent with brand guidelines and voice
  • Work closely with agency and vendor partners to deploy content across various organic and paid media channels 

Project and Stakeholder Management 

  • Expertly manage and facilitate collaboration and alignment with internal cross-functional teams (including the policy, comms, legal, marketing, business teams)
  • Seamlessly navigate internal communications and channels, including developing proposals, project plans, progress reports and after-action reviews, organise and lead regular check-in meetings 
  • Drive campaign progress and rigour, including creating and managing detailed project plans, timelines, milestones, deliverables and budget tracking
  • Work with media agency to monitor, track and report on the performance of content and campaigns, adjusting and optimising campaigns where appropriate
  • Work with Regional Lead to develop recommendations and learnings

Your Expertise:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Communications, Marketing, Business or a related field
  • 8+ years experience in data-informed political campaigning, marketing or public relations, amplifying campaigns through a variety of online and offline channels
  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex political concepts into actionable campaign strategies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with experience in crafting messages for diverse audiences
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing stakeholders and leading multiple projects simultaneously
  • An excellent understanding of the political landscape in Australia
  • Keen interest and understanding of political and social dynamics and issues 
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical and organisational skills 
  • Skilled in vendor management and working with marketing, creative and media buy agencies to develop campaign success 
  • A keen eye for design and copywriting preferred 
  • Passionate about the positive impact of travel and tourism and willingness to travel
