KAYAK is looking for Java backend developers to help improve and maintain our world leading search and booking technology! We integrate with over 200 travel partners and link to over 500,000 hotels, 550 airlines and 1000 rental cars companies. You will be an essential part of a high powered team that keeps all of this running efficiently – helping millions of people find the best hotels and rental cars and the best ways to fly from A to B every day!

This role will be required to work from our Kaunas office at least 3 days per week.

In this role, you will:

  • Work in the Flights team to develop, maintain, and enhance backend systems using Java
  • Implement new search integrations with third-party APIs
  • Improve existing features towards high-performance, user friendly experiences
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and deliver features
  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize code for performance
  • Ensure system quality and scalability by following best practices

Please apply if you are/have:

  • A proven experience as a backend Software Engineer
  • Strong proficiency in Java and in-depth knowledge of data structures, concurrency, and OOP patterns
  • Experience with API design and implementation
  • Hands-on experience with SQLHTTPXMLJSON
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field
  • Experience in building high-performance, scalable Java applications

Bonus Points:

  • Experience with SpringMySQLGitRedis, or Kafka
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS)

Compensation
Software Engineer salary consists of three elements:

Base pay: may start from 2700 EUR gross monthly. More experienced candidates may receive up to 3990 EUR gross monthly for this position.
In addition:
-  Significant yearly bonuses, approx 10 percent of annual salary

-  Booking Holdings RSU (Restricted Stock Units) package, worth 20000 USD gross, with possibility to receive yearly refreshes.
