Position Summary: 

We are seeking an experienced Database Engineer (SRE) to focus on the reliability, availability, and performance of our database infrastructure, with particular emphasis on NoSQL and graph databases. You’ll play a key role in maintaining and optimizing our cloud database systems to meet the needs of our Trulioo customer base. We are a 24/7 operation that requires on-call coverage to serve any technical incidents that may arise.

What you’ll be doing: 

  • Collaborate with our infrastructure and engineering teams to implement best practices for database management.
  • Support and debug database production issues across services and levels of the stack.
  • Manage and optimize document and graph databases (such as AWS DocumentDB, Mongo, Neptune, Neo4j, or others) for performance, scalability, and high availability.
  • Ensure databases are configured for high availability (HA), replication, and disaster recovery (DR). 
  • Implement automated backup and restore strategies, and ensure minimal downtime in case of failures. 
  • Manage monitoring and alerting systems for all data storage backends.
  • Automate database-related processes such as scaling, backups, migrations, and performance tuning to reduce manual intervention and ensure operational efficiency. 

You have: 

  • 3+ years of database engineering or datastore reliability engineering experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience managing and optimizing relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., DynamoDB, Redis). 
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation) to automate provisioning and configuration of database resources in the cloud.
  • Proficiency with monitoring tools like CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana.
  • Experience with scripting and automation (e.g., Python, Bash, Go) to streamline database management tasks. 

Nice to have: 

  • Experience managing AWS-native databases like RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, or Redshift.
  • Experience with multi-region database configurations and data replication strategies for low-latency access across geographies. 
  • Familiarity with data analytics or ETL pipelines that interface with databases for data processing and analytics. 
  • Experience with graph databases like Neo4j, ArangoDb, and Amazon Neptune.

We take a market-based and data-driven approach to compensation. We leverage data from trusted third-party compensation sources to help us understand the market value of a role based on function, level, location, and scope. 

Please view the base salary range for this role below. The range listed is our expected compensation for the role. However, the pay offered may vary depending on a variety of factors including qualifications, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

Annual Salary
$100,000—$120,000 CAD
