We’re looking for a Staff Mobile Developer (React Native) to join our team in Europe. 

As a Staff Mobile Developer (Staff Software Developer) you will be supporting Lightspeed's Hospitality product group on the mission to help restaurant owners to provide the best experience to their customers through a fast, flexible, mobile companion app for restaurant managers and staff that supports them in running their business.

What you’ll be doing:

• Delivering features and improvements and making a positive impact to thousands of restaurant managers and staff
• Implementing proof of concept, prototypes and fully-tested production-grade software
• Design and lead technical initiatives and provide technical leadership to keep our apps up-to-date on the latest technologies and following the best practices in mobile development
• Mentor other developers inside the team and participate in daily standups, grooming sessions, feature kick-offs and retrospective ceremonies
• Work closely with the Design team to keep a focus on User Experience (UX) and assist QA, Support and other teams in troubleshooting and remediating issues
• Translating requirements into detailed plans and level of effort guidance

What you need to bring:

• Proven Track Record: Senior level experience in developing and shipping production-grade React Native and TypeScript applications across Android and iOS platforms.
• Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of mobile and frontend technologies (React, React Native, Typescript, Swift, Kotlin, etc), integrating backend services and other mobile application development considerations like authentication, APIs, connectivity, etc.
• Native App Development: Experience in developing & debugging native apps for iOS using XCode, Swift and Android Studio with Java/Kotlin.
• Deployment Experience: Understanding of release/build/deployment lifecycles, including navigating App Store and Play Store limitations and hurdles.
• Mobile App Architecture & Design Principles: Demonstrated ability in object-oriented design, functional programming, refactoring and mobile app architectures to ensure scalability and maintainability.
• Testing Expertise: Demonstrated experience creating unit and automated UI tests using tools such as Jest, Mocha, Playwright, Detox, Appium, or Maestro
• Monitoring and Observability: Familiarity with analytics and observability tools like ConfigCat, Segment, Heap, Datadog RUM, and Crashlytics to monitor user behaviour and app performance.
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills - capable of articulating complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Project Experience: Experience leading complex mobile development projects from concept to delivery.

• Experience with eventual consistency and distributed client models
• Experience with asynchronous programming patterns
• Experience integrating with event subscription patterns
• A keen interest in visual and interaction design for mobile platforms
• A keen interest in API design
