AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations — from foundational services such as Amazon’s Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS’s services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (Iot), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.
Do you want to lead a team building platforms and services that fundamentally improve test automation for your fellow software developers? The AWS Test Automation Platform team is looking for passionate software development managers to help transform the way our customers improve, write and execute test automation software. We develop frameworks and services that enable teams to improve the quality of their products through testing and feedback at every stage of the software lifecycle. We make best practices the path of least resistance, our tools are automated, intelligent, ubiquitous and wherever possible we automatically perform actions on behalf of our customers/software engineers.
The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about leading a team of engineers focused on creating solutions for developers, with a strong desire to enhance their daily work and act as a force multiplier for numerous service teams. You have experience collaborating with other development teams and managers as your customers, are capable of owning mission-critical code in a fast-paced, hyper-growth environment where priorities change rapidly, and consistently consider the broader impact your team can have through open-source contributions. You enjoy solving challenging problems relating to the use of automation at Amazon scale, development best practices, and more.
Key job responsibilities
• Responsible for the overall systems development life cycle
• Management and execution against project plans and delivery commitments; Overseeing day-to-day activities of the engineering team within an Agile/Scrum environment
• Management of engineering resources, staffing, mentoring, and enhancing and maintaining a world-class engineering team
• Work closely with the engineers to architect and develop the best technical design and approach
• Report on status of development, quality, operations, and system performance to management

The Amazon Software Builder Experience (ASBX) organization has a mission of creating the world’s best builder experience across tens of thousands of software engineers, and all Amazon businesses (e.g., AWS, Amazon Stores, etc.). Our Builder Tools team in ASBX owns the software development tools Amazon software teams use to develop, release, and manage their software. This role is for you if you’re passionate about software development, development tools, and having world-wide impact across all of Amazon! In addition to delivering results, we also appreciate establishing a work-life-balance, having fun with our co-workers, and supporting an inclusive and collaborative team environment.- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of engineering experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
