Amazon is looking for a motivated Senior Data Engineer with strong database, analytical skills and big data technology experience to join the Amazon’s Advertising business. You will be a part of Advertising Publisher Monetization org and supporting multiple ads businesses, including but not limited to Stores (amazon.com), Amazon Business, and Books Ads.

This is an exciting opportunity to re-envision the data architecture for multiple unique ads businesses and be hands-on to deliver your data solutions end-to-end and bring your impact to the teams immediately. As a key data solution provider, you will be partnering with Finance and Business leaders to design, build, expand and optimize data solutions to ensure data scalability, stability, and accuracy. You will be working with massive amount of data in the ads space, and your big data solutions will be supporting our rapidly growing, complex and dynamic businesses demand for data.

Finally yet importantly, you should have excellent communication skills and the ability to adjust communication to different groups of stakeholders, collaborating with BI engineers, data scientists, software engineers, product managers, program managers, and leadership to evaluate business needs and objectives in order to set up the best data management environment.

Key job responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Understand unique business needs, review existing tech stack and data landscape, design/re-design, implement and build an analytical data infrastructure for multiple ads businesses
- Influence upstream and partner data teams to ensure the reliable data solutions for our team
- Manage AWS resources including EC2, EMR, S3, Glue, Redshift, etc
- Interface with other technology teams to extract, transform, and load data from a wide variety of data sources
- Explore, learn and adopt the latest AWS technologies to provide new capabilities and increase efficiency
- Collaborate with and support Business Intelligence Engineers (BIEs) to recognize and help adopt best practices in reporting and analysis: data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation
- Work with stakeholders to understand the business questions and define requirements and build out scalable data solutions
- Support continually improve ongoing reporting and analysis processes, automating or simplifying self-service support for customers


About the team
The APM Advertising Finance team supports various publishers, including Stores, Amazon Business, Books, Grocery/Physical Store, Devices, Video, Audio. Our focus is to accelerate top-line revenue and improve profitability by evaluating overall ad supply monetization and utilization, product feature or sales package adoption, campaign performance, and other various product drivers of growth.- 5+ years of data engineering experience
- Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
- Experience with SQL
- Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language, such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS- Experience with big data technologies such as: Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR
- Experience operating large data warehouses
- Experience building/operating highly available, distributed systems of data extraction, ingestion, and processing of large data sets
- Experience communicating with users, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, describe data modeling decisions and data engineering strategy
- Experience providing technical leadership and mentoring other engineers for best practices on data engineering
- Experience providing technical leadership on high-impact cross-fucntional technical project

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $139,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $240,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
