Team: Site Management
The Site Management team has the overall responsibility for managing Infrastructure space, power, physical security and structured cabling across all Squarepointβs data centers, offices, and colocations facilities. This team collaborates closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to establish and enforce design standards, implementation strategies, techniques, runbooks, and procedural documents that govern the delivery of infrastructure projects globally, ensuring both consistency and quality.
The Site Team is establishing a new Data Center Technician position. The Data Center Technician holds the responsibility of installing, maintaining, and monitoring the equipment and systems within the data center. The Data Center Technician follows established standards and processes for IMAC (Install/Move/Add and Changes) and ensures that data center problems are identified and repaired quickly.
This hire is for an afternoon/evening shift Monday-Friday 2 pm-10 pm or Tuesday-Friday 2 pm-10 pm + Saturday 9 am-5 pm.
Position Overview:
- Maintain data center infrastructure (power, cooling, hardware, cabling, tools/supplies, etc.). to provide conformity with established standards.
- Perform requirements gathering and planning for new hardware installs (i.e. physical location, power and cooling requirements, cabling, etc.), to ensure efficient and effective deployment.
- Install and onboard data center infrastructure components (cabinets, PDUs, structured cabling, etc.,), ensuring proper integration and functionality.
- Racking and cabling of data center hardware (servers, network equipment, storage devices, etc.).
- Hardware troubleshooting and break-fix.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation to ensure accurate record-keeping and efficient operations.
- Interface directly with data center providers and hardware vendors to ensure seamless integration and support.
- Manage onsite contractors as needed (provide tasks, validate work, etc.) to ensure timely and high-quality work.
- Shipping and receiving of equipment.
- Maintain inventory (serialized assets and consumables).
- Perform frequent audits of the Data Center (space, cooling, power, cabling plant).
Required Qualifications :
- Bachelorβs degree
- At least three years Data Center or comparable experience with a proven track record of success.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends as required.
- Knowledge of cabling standards/media types and ability to manage cables to an extremely high standard.
- Strong understanding of data center infrastructure (electrical/power, cooling, mechanicals, safety, etc.).
- Ability to understand basic network designs and topologies.
- Basic Linux understanding
- Excellent written/verbal communication, time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work well as part of global team in a fast-paced environment.
- Extremely high personal standards for work quality.
- Reliable and predicable availability.
The minimum base salary for this role is $60,000 if located in New York. This expectation is based on available information at the time of posting. This role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses, which could constitute a significant portion of total compensation. This role may also be eligible for benefits, such as health, dental, and other wellness plans, as well as 401(k) contributions. Successful candidatesβ compensation and benefits will be determined in consideration of various factors.
