Flow Traders is looking for an ambitious Risk Manager strengthen the EMEA Risk team, based in the Amsterdam office. This is a unique opportunity to join a leading proprietary trading firm with an entrepreneurial and innovative culture at the heart of its business.
In this role, you will independently and proactively identify and assess risks across the business and drive actions to mitigate operational risk losses by challenging both historical and proposed practices. We are looking for someone who understands operational risk frameworks front-to-back, and is able to lead the improvement and maintenance of the framework and controls. The ideal candidate is entrepreneurial with a natural curiosity and strives for operational excellence. They are also a proactive self-starter who enjoys the opportunity to greatly help shape operational risk management at Flow Traders.
What you will do
- Maintain and improve the risk and control framework (RCSA)
- Work closely with the business to get a deep understanding of the business and their concerns
- Identify material operational risks, both existing and new as business decisions are made
- Proactively promote possible solutions to reduce risks
- Elevate, report and investigate errors, losses and near misses, identifying root causes and overseeing the implementation of corrective actions
- Establish and maintain internal controls to help mitigate risks
- Develop succinct and timely risk reports for management
- Help promote a strong risk awareness culture within the organization
- Liaise and strengthen collaboration with local offices worldwide
What you need to succeed
- 3+ years of operational risk management experience
- Relevant university degree
- Proven knowledge and experience in the financial markets industry
- Solid understanding of operational risk frameworks and internal controls
- Understanding of enterprise risk management is a plus
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex risk issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Strong English skills, both written and spoken
- Entrepreneurial and flexible with the ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage competing demands effectively
