ABOUT THE TEAM

The DevEx team is the glue between the Tide product focussed engineering teams and our platform engineering team. Our goals are to provide automation, reduce friction and create a pleasurable engineering experience.

 

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a highly experienced engineer to join our Developer Experience team in London. This team is the glue between all of the Tide product focussed engineering teams and our platform engineering team, as such they require a broad skill set with a keenness to learn and grow.

The ideal candidate will have a wealth of experience of GitHub and GitHub Actions to fully automate CI/CD. They will be experienced at creating pipelines for deploying containerised Go, Java and Python applications into K8S, ideally using tools like HELM, ArgoCD and CrossPlane.

They will have a good understanding of cloud computing platforms and technologies, Agile ways of working, and hands-on coding. They will also be able to mentor other engineers, and help to architect and implement cloud-based solutions.

As a Lead Developer Experience Engineer you’ll: 

  • Design, build, and maintain cloud-based solutions
  • Lead and mentor other engineers
  • Champion best practices in software development, and in agile ways of working
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest cloud computing technologies
  • Troubleshoot and resolve pipeline and cloud-based issues
  • Work with other teams to ensure that cloud-based solutions meet the needs of the business, strong collaboration skills.

 

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in distributed computing
  • Good working knowledge of web based applications
  • A depth of  knowledge with one or more of the following programming languages: Python, Java, Go, JavaScript
  • Experience with a variety of cloud computing platforms and technologies, including AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, and EKS
  • Deployed containerised TypeScript, Java or Python applications
  • Familiarity with developer portals such as Backstage
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience in Pair Coding 
  • Ability to automate - Infrastructure as Code 

 

OUR TECH STACK

Proficiency in all areas is not required, but willingness to learn is essential:

Cloud:

  • EKS/Kubernetes for platform running
  • GitHub with GitHub Actions for CI/CD pipelines
  • ArgoCD
  • Helm
  • Terraform/Terragrunt

Frontend Technologies:

  • Angular 15+ (including NgRx and Angular Material) or React
  • Storybook for live component documentation

Backend and Database:

  • Node.js and NestJs
  • PostgreSQL

Content Management:

  • Contentful for dynamic content provision

Monitoring and Analytics:

  • DataDog
  • Semgrep
