What you’ll do:
- Drive company-level strategy, roadmap, and day-to-day execution for a new Editorial Standards & Practices team.
- Draft Editorial Standards & Practices, drive review processes and get alignment with stakeholders.
- Serve as a thought leader, drawing on your deep domain expertise in Standards & Practices - including understanding of user needs and business goals, evolving legal regulations, and the broader competitive landscape.
- Work closely with product and engineering partners to implement Editorial Standards & Practices in our backend recommendation systems, in particular with Machine Learning teams for Content safety.
- Drive the creation, implementation and regular measurement of our performance against Editorial Standards & Practices and share out our progress with cross functional partners, other leaders and the executive team.
- Own and drive the overall strategy, day-to-day operations, and long-term roadmap for the Editorial Standards & Practices function at Pinterest, leveraging your deep expertise in content policy and guidelines.
- Draft, align, and implement Editorial Standards & Practices—in collaboration with stakeholders including Policy, Legal, Product, and Engineering—to ensure we balance user and business needs within an evolving regulatory and competitive environment.
- Create, measure, and communicate our progress against Editorial Standards & Practices, confidently translating strategy and insights for executive audiences and company-wide forums.
- Make efficient, high-quality decisions under pressure and in conditions of ambiguity by synthesizing research, data, competitive analysis, and business intuition; regularly challenge and adjust decisions as needed, demonstrating humility and commitment to doing what’s right for the business.
What we’re looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Public Policy, Marketing or equivalent experience.
- Content Policy, Guidelines and Standards domain expertise: A driver of strategy and execution of content policy, guidelines, and standards for a leading global platform, leveraging deep domain expertise to ensure best-in-class approaches.
- Serve as both a thought leader and trusted collaborator, building strong cross-functional relationships across technical, policy, legal, and business teams to integrate standards into backend systems and advance company priorities.
- Trusted collaborator: In this role, you’ll partner closely with technical teams, Policy, Legal, and more. You’ll need to build deep and trusted relationships with these teams and work together in service of key shared strategic priorities.
- Strategic thinker: You stay ahead of industry trends and legal developments, make strategic tradeoffs, and champion measurable results—always ensuring the content policies support a safe and innovative platform for users.
