Our Global Payroll Team is a dynamic and collaborative group of payroll professionals responsible for managing payroll operations across multiple countries. Our team ensures that employees are paid accurately and on time, while maintaining compliance with local and international regulations.

About the role

Roku is seeking a highly skilled Payroll Specialist to join and become a key member of APAC Payroll team. 

As a Senior Payroll Analyst, you are a key member of the Roku Payroll Operations team focused on delivering an exceptional payroll end-user experience.  You will work across departments and geographies, interacting with our partners and peers across the entire People Shared Service Organization, IT, Accounting, and international offices. This is an operational position that requires a hands-on approach to payroll. You will be expected to bring expertise around payroll legislation, drive accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness of payroll processing with an outsourced payroll provider.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for the preparation and audit of India Regular on-cycle, off-cycle, and equity transactions with outsourced service providers and internal stakeholders.    
• Includes all forms of compensation and deductions processed on a bi-monthly, monthly or ad hoc basis for exempt and non-exempt employee population.
• Ensure all employee earnings and deductions, at point of final calculation, are accurate and are made in compliance with internal policies, payroll tax and legal requirements.
• Ensure the vendor complies with statutory requirements, including TDS, PF, ESI, PT, and other labor laws.
• Expert knowledge of payroll methods, touch points, end-to-end processing steps, best practices, and tax filing; up-to-date knowledge of federal, state, and local wage and hour laws.
• Maintain detailed source documentation and reports around the payroll audit process.
• Assist with payroll compliance matters such as tax withholdings and key annual audits..  
• Participate in the preparation, reconciliation and validation of year end payroll processes and employee facing reporting including but not limited to 16 issuance and tax declarations.
• Basic understanding of accounting principles, the ability to understand the impact of payroll activity on financial statements and the ability to partner with the Finance team to resolve issues as they arise.
• Assist in implementing, writing and maintaining standard operating procedures.
• Provide standard and ad-hoc payroll reports as needed by various internal departments such as Accounting, Legal and Equity.
• Resolve escalated payroll issues timely providing expert payroll knowledge utilizing internal ticketing and support systems.
• Address queries from employees in a timely and professional manner.
• Ensure compliance with policies, regulations, wage tax laws, segregation of duties, SOX and other federal and state legislation impacting payroll.
• Assist in updating payroll processing related controls and narratives and accurately represent current best practices.
• Recognize opportunities and recommend scalable processes to enhance payroll operational efficiency while maintaining accuracy.
• Support business process strategies for end-to-end Payroll processes to achieve efficiency, productivity and improved controls.
• Participate in cross training across various international payroll processes to ensure coverage during vacation and peak processing times. 
• Assist with or be responsible for other duties and ad-hoc projects as assigned by the Payroll Manager.
• As this is a hybrid role, you are expected to be present in our office for 3 days a week.
• Identify opportunities to streamline payroll processes and improve vendor performance.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, HR, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in India payroll
• Advanced Excel skills to be able to create and apply relevant principals to support required payroll reporting.
• Knowledge of Workday system is a plus
• In-depth understanding of India payroll laws
• Current knowledge and understanding of employee India benefit legislation and taxation.
• Strong analytical skills with a focus on accuracy and compliance.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to resolve complex payroll issues efficiently.
• Experience of working for a multinational company and payroll knowledge of additional APAC countries would be a significant advantage.
