Job Description

Who We Are

Nuro exists to better everyday life through robotics. Founded in 2016, Nuro has spent eight years developing autonomous driving (AD) technology and commercializing AD applications. The Nuro Driver™ is our world-class autonomous driving system that combines AD hardware with our generalized AI-first self-driving software. Built to learn and improve through data, the Nuro Driver™ is one of the few driverless autonomous technologies on public roads today.

Nuro has raised over $2B in capital from Fidelity, Bailie Gifford, T. Rowe Price, Google, and other leading investors. We’ve partnered with some of the world’s most respected brands including Uber, FedEx, Domino’s, Walmart, Kroger, and 7-Eleven.

About the Team

The AV Architecture Team is looking for a Junior AV Architect to join us in our mission to better everyday life through robotics. Our team is responsible for refining the intricate electrical interactions between Nuro's AV subsystems and the vehicle platforms they interface with. We achieve this by getting involved early in product development, working closely with cross functional teams, gathering requirements, getting hands-on with hardware, and driving critical interface decisions.

About the Role

As part of the autonomous vehicle hardware team, you will be part of a cross-functional engineering group focused on developing the hardware systems that enable Nuro’s autonomous technology across our vehicle and robotic platforms. You will work cross-functionally to develop requirements, own architectural definition, contribute to system development, and drive validation of these systems. You will be supporting existing platforms and our future products through the entire product life cycle.

About the Work

  • Manage the evolution of the hardware system architecture as our technology matures, over a range of vehicle platforms.
  • Gather and manage Autonomy Hardware requirements for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Work cross-functionally to support feature introduction, integration, and validation.
  • Maintain critical documentation used to define, manage, and communicate the autonomous vehicle system architecture internally and with external partners.
  • Collaborate with external vendors that support our system.

About You

  • Strong communication and organizational skills to assimilate into a high-output, cross-functional team.
  • Strong electrical engineering fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, power supplies, and other debugging tools.
  • Familiarity with basic board debug techniques
  • Technical curiosity and excitement about the tech

Bonus Points

  • Specific knowledge of relevant industry standards: Ethernet (T and T1), I2C, SPI, CAN, PCIe, etc
  • Familiarity with tools like diagram tools like Lucidchart, draw.io

At Nuro, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package.
