Job Description

The Robotics and Auto-Driving Lab (RAL) of Baidu Research (Beijing) is looking for candidates with strong robotics or autonomous driving background. We aim to build a multi-disciplinary research team that combines expertise in robotics, machine learning, computer vision, human-robot interaction, NLP, graphics, and simulation to study holistic solutions. We strongly believe that the most significant advancements comes from the cross pollination of different areas. We aim to become a bridge that closes the gap between academic research and industrial applications. By establishing and maintaining a close relationship with world leading universities and using Baidu’s well established engineering talent, we strive to be the first to bring research lab results, from either internally or externally, to market.

The selected candidates will focus on conducting core robotics research with applications to autonomous driving, construction robotics, and versatile real world problems. It requires broad knowledge of combining expertise in machine learning, computer vision, robotics, NLP, graphics, and simulation to study holistic solutions for robotics and autonomous driving applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research, design, implement, and evaluate novel robotics algorithms for real world problems
  • Participate in software prototyping, experimental evaluation, and technology transfer
  • Contribute to a portfolio of patents and academic publications
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams to drive scalable and efficient implementations

Qualifications:

  • PhD/MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • Proven track record in conferences/journals
  • Expertise in at least one of following robotics areas (robot learning, perception, decision making, planning, control, state estimation, human-robot interaction, NLP, simulation, and deep learning)
  • Good programming skills in C/C++ and/or python
  • Familiarity with ROS or other robotics middleware
