Ardent is seeking a Federal Proposal Writer – IT Solutions to join our team.  As a Federal Proposal Writer for Ardent, your primary responsibility will be to create and maintain technical documentation and communication materials related to IT projects and initiatives undertaken by the government agency or department. Your role is crucial in ensuring clear and concise documentation that adheres to government standards and best practices.

This is a Hybrid Position. Successful candidate must be able to work up to 3 days/week in Vienna, VA. 

Position Description:

Ardent is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Federal Proposal Writer – IT Solutions to join our proposal development team for Federal government contracts. The Federal Proposal Writer will play a crucial role in crafting high-quality, compliant, and persuasive written content that effectively communicates our technology solutions and capabilities to government clients. The ideal candidate should possess a strong background in IT, excellent writing skills, and the ability to collaborate seamlessly with subject matter experts and proposal teams.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Proposal Content Development:

  • Collaborate with technical and subject matter experts to gather and synthesize information about our IT solutions, services, and capabilities.
  • Write clear, concise, and compelling proposal content that addresses specific government contract requirements and evaluation criteria.
  • Craft technical narratives, solution overviews, and system architecture descriptions that showcase our expertise.

Compliance and Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure that proposal content aligns with Federal government requirements, including those outlined in Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Statements of Work (SOWs).
  • Review and edit content for grammar, style, consistency, and accuracy, maintaining a high standard of quality.

Technical Understanding and Translation:

  • Understand complex IT concepts, technologies, and solutions and translate them into easily understandable, non-technical language for government evaluators.
  • Present technical information in a way that demonstrates our ability to meet project goals and deliverables.

Collaboration and Coordination:

  • Work closely with proposal managers, subject matter experts, solution architects, and business development teams to gather necessary information and ensure alignment with proposal strategy.
  • Participate in proposal kick-off meetings, content development sessions, and reviews.

Graphics and Visual Aids:

  • Collaborate with graphic designers to create visually appealing graphics, diagrams, and charts that enhance the proposal's readability and impact.
  • Ensure visual aids effectively complement the written content and convey technical concepts.

Research and Content Enrichment:

  • Conduct research to enhance proposal content with relevant industry trends, best practices, and case studies.
  • Infuse proposals with data-driven insights that showcase our technological prowess and potential impact.

Schedule Adherence:

  • Manage multiple proposal assignments simultaneously while adhering to strict deadlines.
  • Coordinate with proposal teams to ensure timely delivery of draft and final proposal sections.

Proposal Review and Revision:

  • Participate in internal proposal reviews, addressing feedback from reviewers and subject matter experts to refine and improve content.

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Technical Communication, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
  • Proven experience as an IT Technical Writer for Federal government proposals, with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
  • Strong understanding of IT concepts, including cybersecurity, cloud computing, software development, network infrastructure, and data analytics.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to tailor content to different audiences.
  • Familiarity with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and government contracting processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with proposal management tools and collaborative platforms is advantageous.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, with the capability to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
