PROGRAMMING - UNREAL ENGINE

What We Do

Unreal-powered projects have been on the bleeding edge of real-time entertainment for over 20 years. Our team of programming experts are always innovating to improve the tools and technology that empower content developers worldwide.

What You'll Do

Epic Games has a cutting-edge audio engine included in the Unreal Engine, supporting both internal teams like Fortnite and various external licensees. This position will enhance our dynamic audio engine team, focusing on advancing our audio tools and user experience. You will play a crucial role in audio technology development, influencing the broader game industry and real-time audio rendering.

In this role, you will

  • Design and implement new audio engine tools, workflows, and systems-level audio features
  • Work closely with sound designers and technical sound designers to support and extend audio workflows and audio content pipelines
  • Support audio designers in their use of editor tools and adding quality of life features as needed
  • Work with the audio engine team to track down and resolve tools-related bugs and issues
  • Profile and tune code to meet performance and memory requirements
  • Test and document your work while writing clear, maintainable, and functional code

What we're looking for

  • Minimum of 5+ years of professional programming experience working in tools and UI development
  • B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
  • Strong programming skills in C++ and experience with C++ GUI frameworks (e.g., JUCE, wxWidgets, Qt, etc.)
  • Expertise with digital signal processing and core digital audio concepts
  • Passionate about writing tools with quality UX for content creators
  • Experience with UE5
  • Experience with other DSP-graph UI frameworks (e.g., Max/MSP, Reaktor, etc.)
  • Experience with audio domain-specific languages (e.g., Max/MSP, PD, Supercollider, ChucK, etc.)
  • Background in sound design, music composition, or another audio-related field
  • Experience working on digital audio workstation plugin development

Pay Transparency Information

The expected annual base pay range(s) for this position are detailed below. Each base pay range is relevant only for individuals who are residents of or will be expected to work within the specified locale. Compensation varies based on a variety of factors, which include (but aren’t limited to) things such as skills and competencies, qualifications, knowledge, and experience. In addition to base pay, most employees are eligible to participate in Epic’s generous benefit plans and discretionary incentive programs (subject to the terms of those plans or programs).
