Job Description

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role; overseeing strategic projects, with 2 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role.
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization.
  • Experience with distributed systems.
  • Experience with Apache Kafka.
  • Experience with Kubernetes.

With technical and leadership expertise, you manage engineers across multiple teams and locations, a large product budget and oversee the deployment of large-scale projects across multiple sites internationally.

In this role, you will join and lead a new team bringing the power of Kafka to new cutting-edge environments. Google’s Managed Kafka team is forming a new team to expand its reach beyond public cloud and into other critical environments such as Google Distributed Cloud (GDC). This includes both Connected and Air-Gapped, focusing first on Connected.

  • Help form a new team in Warsaw which will build and support Managed Kafka on GDC, and meet with customers to help them improve their experience with our products.
  • Lead and mentor this new team, providing technical guidance, and career development opportunities.
  • Manage the execution of projects from design to deployment, ensuring high-quality deliverables and timely completion.
  • Collaborate closely with Managed Kafka team leads and stakeholders to define product roadmaps, technical designs, and quarterly plans for building Managed Kafka on GDC.
  • Create a team charter, and ensure the newly formed team is healthy and productive.
