Amazon is looking for a PR and communications professional to support its grocery business! You will help drive communications for physical store launches across the US, online grocery delivery, grocery private brands, and day-to-day PR efforts. We’re looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment with experience in corporate communications and/or physical retail.
The Amazon Communications team is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Communications Coordinator to work on store and online grocery launches and expansions, issues management, and related activities for Amazon’s grocery business. You will be a self-starter who can clearly formulate and communicate PR recommendations and plans to both peers and executives. You will also be comfortable providing counsel and guidance to a wide variety of counterparts, and have a track record of exercising high-judgment while acting quickly. You will have experience in dealing with national, regional and local news desks on a variety of reactive and proactive topics. To be successful in this role you will need excellent communications skills, exemplary writing ability, exceptional initiative, and a talent for collaboration. You should have experience working with high standards under tight deadlines. Creativity and flexibility are a must. Periodic domestic travel is required.
Key job responsibilities
• Plan and execute proactive PR announcements and related activities
• Work quickly and precisely under tight deadlines, and prioritize and manage multiple projects at one time
• Develop and manage relationships with a range of media contacts, local and national
• Strategize, write and evolve key messaging and press materials
• Work closely with marketing, public policy, program management and other internal groups to cohesively approach projects and activities
• Successfully manage complex, fast-moving and unexpected communications challenges
• Help manage an external public relations agency on strategy and day-to-day matters
• Willingness to represent Amazon as a spokesperson
A day in the life
• Working directly with grocery business field teams and corporate stakeholders to advise on strategies, private brand launches and expansions, and PR needs.
• Developing strategic PR plans for the grocery business as well as press materials for upcoming announcements.
• Fielding press inquiries and developing response strategy on quick turns.
• Driving proactive momentum storytelling for the grocery business with key corporate, consumer and local/regional press contacts.
About the team
This role sits on the Worldwide Grocery Stores Comms team, focused on Amazon's grocery efforts across delivery and stores. The grocery Comms team is responsible for managing the grocery press narrative, driving proactive initiatives for the grocery business, and advising day-to-day across the grocery organization. This role will work with many Comms teams including corporate communications, consumer campaigns, physical retail technology, and community engagement.- Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, or a related field
- 3+ years of recent professional communications or public relations experience
- Experience in Retail, Corporate Communications and Business PR.
- Current experience managing media relationships and a network of media contacts.- An entrepreneurial spirit, including ability to work independently and autonomously
- Solid judgment and the ability to respond quickly, yet thoughtfully, to urgent PR matters
- Very solid attention to detail
- Excellent written and oral communication skills

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $51,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $110,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
