ABOUT THIS ROLE
Audible’s Literary Content Acquisition Team owns the full cycle business relationships with the authors, writers, content creators, literary agents, publishers, and recognized IP brands that serve as Audible’s top global creators in the literary space. In this role you’ll generate, negotiate, and close a high volume of new deals and deal renewals for audio original and book-based audio content with prospective and current top partners, at terms that benefit Audible customers. You’ll have responsibility for acquired content, ensure successful post-signing go to market planning across the relevant teams at Audible and Amazon, and contribute to defining strategic development affecting Audible’s overall growth and success.
As the Associate Director, Content Acquisition, Australia, you will...
- Develop, grow, and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential content partners, including authors, writers, content creators, agents, publishers, and IP brands
- Independently manage, prioritize, and execute high volume deal flow, structuring, negotiating, and executing deals that support Audible’s content strategy and initiatives
- Identify and prepare projects for internal support and valuation by presenting data, preparing budgets, P&Ls, and drafting proposed deal terms
- Build relationships and represent the literary deals’ team to various internal stakeholders including Editorial/Creative, Finance, BI, Marketing, PR, Content Services, Content Partnerships, and Content Creation teams
- Track and communicate deal terms within the organization and provide for first line of enforcement of deal terms if necessary
- Coordinate closely with members of the content teams at Audible to maintain consistency in messaging and policy

- Experience negotiating complex agreements with a firm understanding of legal terminology and reasoning
- Experience in and understanding of both the digital and traditional media spaces
- Experience in the audio space, acquiring or selling audio rights- Previous experience working for a production company or television network experience
- Passionate about storytelling, the evolution of audio, theater, music, books, and consuming audio content
- Strong aptitude to use Salesforce, Excel, PowerPoint, and company-wide Project Management tools
- Resourceful self-starter with an independent attitude and focus on excellence
- Proven organizational, analytical, decision-making and problem-solving skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills -- ability to effectively communicate complex concepts and ideas in a simple manner across different levels of an organization
- Ability to operate in a high-energy, high-intensity and rapidly evolving environment
- Ability to work with cross functional teams under aggressive deadlines
