Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic Maintenance Technician to join our Facilities and Engineering team, playing a key role in the start-up, commissioning, operations, and maintenance of critical utilities systems in our new GMP manufacturing facility. In this role, based in beautiful Vancouver, you will work closely with manufacturing operations, process engineering, quality and other technical operations functions to troubleshoot and maintain process and utility equipment.  

How you might spend your days:

  • Providing mechanical support for troubleshooting and preventive maintenance 
  • Carrying out work orders relating to routine maintenance and planned repair activities for utilities equipment through a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Providing technical support, troubleshooting, and problem-solving solutions for process systems interfacing with manufacturing process and quality control equipment
  • Providing recommendations for reliability improvements/monitoring for process and base building equipment
  • Working effectively with equipment vendor representatives to execute and improve preventive maintenance. Troubleshooting mechanical issues using virtual tools and working with vendors’ customer service
  • Performing shutdown and restart of process and utilities systems during major maintenance activities or unplanned power outages in accordance with internal safety and quality requirements 

We’d love to hear from you if:

  • You have a minimum of 2 - 4 years of relevant work experience in a manufacturing plant or an Associate Degree/Diploma and a minimum of 0-2 years of experience
  • You have significant knowledge and experience with manufacturing equipment such as autoclaves, partswasher, reverse osmosis systems, sanitary tanks and valves
  • You have a strong mechanical aptitude and electrical knowledge, and are able to perform routine maintenance and repair tasks
  • You have experience in reliability monitoring and analysis
  • You have a Technical Safety BC Class V Power Engineering certificate (beneficial qualification)
  • You are passionate about working with dynamic teams and building capabilities that accomplish important goals
  • You are a creative and innovative thinker, with the ability to identify potential issues before they arise

What we offer:

AbCellera’s hiring range for this role is CAD $55,800 - $69,800 annually, commensurate with your education and job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to base salary, we offer equity, annual bonus dependent on team and company performance, and a 6% (non-match) RRSP contribution.
