So, what’s the role all about?

 As a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) for our large and regionally distributed SaaS platform, your primary responsibilities will be to improve the reliability and availability of our mission-critical cloud-based services. This will involve the following key duties:

  • Identify and implement automation opportunities to improve the efficiency and scalability of our SaaS infrastructure.
  • Manage and maintain a fleet-wide SaaS Grafana-based observability platform to provide comprehensive monitoring and visibility across our services.
  • Participate in the release engineering process to ensure new features and updates are deployed safely and reliably.
  • Administration custom middleware and tooling to enhance the observability, reliability, and operability of our SaaS platform.
  • Collaborate closely with development teams to ensure their services are production-ready and meet strict reliability and availability requirements.
  • Design, build, and operate an enterprise-grade SaaS observability platform to provide deep insights into the health and performance of our cloud infrastructure and applications.
  • Govern AWS/Azure and others, cloud resources, and cost management
  • Be an escalation point for help in deep analysis and problem solving when needed.
  • Act as a local expert for areas of domain expertise.

How will you make an impact?  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Observability and Monitoring:
    • Create new dashboards and metrics to provide comprehensive observability into the health and performance of development teams' applications, including SLI/SLO metrics.
    • Work with development teams to ensure proper monitoring is set up and enabled for their services.
    • Identify evolutionary improvements to the observability and monitoring solutions.
  2. Reliability Consulting and Automation:
    • Consult with development teams on SRE services and best practices to help them improve the reliability of their applications.
    • Create automation and tooling to reduce toil and manual intervention.
  3. Process and Documentation:
    • Follow established processes when performing work or help document and create processes, as necessary.
    • Document troubleshooting steps and results in appropriate locations for historical access.
    • Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and standards.
    • Implement or coordinate remediation required by audits and assessments, and document, as necessary.
  4. Time Estimation:
    • Estimate the time required to complete activities and projects.

 

Have you got what it takes?

  • Experience with Agile, Jira, GitHub, monitoring, automation, dashboarding
  • Experience with .Net C#
  • Programming/scripting experience with any of the following: (Go, Python, Node)
  • Experience with applications using JSON, yaml, Ansible
  • Experience with private and public cloud technologies
  • Experience with platform monitoring tools 

 

You will have an advantage if you also have:

Kubernetes + certification, Grafana, AWS, Azure, DevOps experience.
