Job Description and Responsibilities:
We are looking for a strategic, hands-on Head of Finance to lead Neuralink’s financial strategy and operations. This role demands a strategic thinker who can balance long-term capital planning with day-to-day execution, overseeing financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, regulatory compliance, risk management, and capital allocation. You will collaborate closely with our executive leadership, engineering, construction, procurement, legal, clinical, and operations teams to align financial strategies with company objectives. Our ideal candidate operates with extreme urgency, anticipates and resolves financial challenges, leads fundraising and other financing activities, drives cost and operation efficiency, and communicates complex financial concepts and strategies to different departments with clarity. You will be expected to:
- Oversee finance operations, including financial planning & analysis (FP&A), fundraising, capital allocations, financial reporting, risk management, and compliance
- Partner with cross-functional teams to drive optimization in capital allocation for R&D activities and capital projects
- Ensure compliance with applicable financial reporting standards
- Manage budgeting, forecasting, and long-term capital planning to guide and support strategic decision-making and company growth
- Develop and strengthen financial controls, governance, and risk management frameworks.
- Lead investor relations, fundraising, secondary offering, capital structure planning, and other financing activities as required
- Implement or refine scalable financial and accounting systems and automation tools
- Build and lead a high-performing finance transformation team, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and collaboration
- Lead a detailed review and redesign of financial processes, including budgeting, forecasting, month-end close, and financial reporting
- Introduce industry best practices and process improvements to enhance operational efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness of financial information
- Develop and implement a comprehensive finance transformation roadmap that aligns with the company’s strategic objectives and financial goals
- Identify key areas for process improvement, automation, and innovation to enhance financial reporting, planning, and decision support
Required Qualifications:
- 10+ years of finance leadership experience, including 5+ years in a senior leadership role at high-growth technology, biotechnology, or medical device organizations
- Proven expertise in financial strategy, financial planning, FP&A, regulatory compliance, and scaling finance operations in high-growth environments
- Strong track record in fundraising, budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling for complex R&D or manufacturing organizations
- Exceptional ability and experience in navigating regulatory compliance, investor relationships management, and financial operations in high-growth private companies
- Proven leadership skills with a history of building, mentoring, and developing high-performing teams
- Excellent communication, problem-solving and analytical skills, with ability and experience in presenting to executives, boards, and investors
- Strategic mindset with a relentless pursuit of action, accountability, and attention to detail
- Evidence of exceptional ability and a relentless drive to achieve ambitious goals
Preferred Qualifications:
- Healthcare industry experience
- Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning systems (e.g., NetSuite), financial automation tools, and audit readiness
- Proven track record of leading large-scale finance transformation projects
- Background in managing finance operations or scaling through rapid growth phases
- Knowledge of venture capital, private/public financing, and/or M&A transactions
- CFA or MBA
