As a Senior Counsel in Figma's international legal team you will play an essential role in contributing to the continued growth of Figma's business in the EMEA and JAPAC regions. The international legal team is responsible for providing technically excellent, yet practical and commercial legal advice to a wide range of cross-functional partners, with particular exposure to the Sales, Marketing and Operations teams. You will have the opportunity to work with talented technical and revenue leaders across the business and be exposed to different working cultures across a huge range of geographic locations. We're seeking an experienced in-house counsel with a growth mindset who is excited by operating in fast moving regulatory and business environment and comfortable dealing with novel situations. This individual will be able to bring an independent view to the table, but also understand the importance of building to scale, they will be into the detail where necessary but always approach issues with a keen strategic vision.

What you'll do at Figma:

  • Draft and negotiate customer facing agreements including but not limited to: software services agreements, data processing agreements, regulatory annexes, security documents, privacy policies. 
  • Monitor and keep the team updated on emerging legislative and regulatory developments related to the business and developing policy or risk positions on these where necessary. 
  • Work closely with key business partners as a strategic adviser, providing legal advice on various complex issues.
  • Collaborate with and provide mentorship to key cross functional partners in sales and marketing to complete complex transactions, implement business critical projects and manage legal risk. 
  • Work effectively with revenue recognition, security, sales operations and other collaborator teams to ensure agreements are consistent with internal Figma policies and processes.
  • Draft and negotiate distribution, reseller, professional services and referral agreements. 
  • Mentor other members of the legal team and help improve our legal resources and know-how.  

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

  • 6+ Years of Post-Qualification Experience (PQE), working in-house at a technology business or in private practice.
  • Strong technical and commercial understanding of the SaaS business model and cloud computing concepts. 
  • Strong influencing, communication and leadership skills, including decisiveness on both legal and business issues with willingness to partner with other cross-functional teams. 
  • Ability to understand, evaluate and provide effective advice in relation to new, and complex legal issues and present that to both a legal and non-legal audience in a clear and concise manner.
  • Want to contribute to a strong, fun and high performing team culture. 

While it’s not required, it’s an added plus if you also have:

  • Additional language skills. 
  • Data Protection Qualifications. 
  • Have experience working with counterparts across the UK, Europe and the Middle-East.
