The Role

We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Product Manager to set and execute the vision for algorithm-driven product innovation, driving significant growth and revenue for Netflix. You will play a pivotal role in advancing our maturity in the Growth domain, acting as a key thought leader in identifying where algorithmic investments can generate the highest impact. Your responsibilities will include prioritizing these investments and crafting a multi-year vision and roadmap to achieve our growth objectives.

In this role, you will leverage our vast amounts of data to maximize the lifetime value of our members, create personalized and optimized signup experiences, enabling easy and secure access to our service by utilizing data-driven insights to enhance their overall experience and satisfaction with Netflix. In short, this is a unique opportunity to shape the growth strategy at Netflix.

You will craft and communicate a strategic roadmap and see to its execution leading cross-functional teams of the industry’s best data scientists, machine learning and software engineers. You will work in close partnership with the growth product management team, design, consumer insights and other functions to bring your vision to life. As a high-leverage thought leader, you will have the ability to shape our thinking on how to evolve the commercial aspects of our product and have a massive impact on our ability to accelerate revenue and growth. 

This role is based in our Los Gatos office (preferred) in a hybrid model, but we are open to remote candidates who are on the West Coast. Some travel to Los Gatos will be required if remote-based.

What Makes a Successful Candidate? 

A strong candidate for the Algo PM role will: 

  • Tackle open-ended growth problems, identifying key areas where algorithmic investment can drive impact. 

  • Systematically identify synergies across the growth lifecycle, focusing on reusable and adaptable algorithmic solutions. 

  • Demonstrate sound judgment on when to leverage machine learning versus simpler heuristics. 

  • Specify product requirements that are relevant for ML and data engineers to consider e.g. freshness of algorithm, precision of recommendation.

  • Cultivate a deep understanding of business and product metrics, linking them to algorithmic improvements to track impact. 

  • Collaborate closely with Data Scientists to design and evaluate effective A/B tests for algorithm enhancements. 

  • Partner seamlessly with Growth PMs to craft the ideal product experience, leveraging algorithmic and ML capabilities strategically. 

  • Possess strong product intuition and a user-centric mindset.

  • Exhibit excellent communication skills to articulate, execute, and align stakeholders on your vision. 

  • Bring strong analytical and problem-solving skills to navigate complex challenges and drive impactful results.

Skills Required:

  • Must have 8+ years of experience as a Product Manager with a proven track record of delivering successful products that leverage machine learning to drive customer and revenue growth

  • Proven leadership in working effectively with data scientists, machine learning engineers, statisticians, and cross-functional teams to drive impactful solutions.

  • Proven ability to map algorithmic solutions to product problems with demonstrated impact on business metrics through AB testing.

  • Demonstrated strategic thinking, incorporating broader business context into algorithm and product development for long-term success.

  • Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

  • Experience working in monetization, growth or commerce is a plus.

  • Deep understanding of product design is a plus

Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $240,000 - $725,000.
