About us:
PurposeMed was founded in 2019 with the mission of improving access to complex care for underserved communities. We’ve grown quickly in our first few years, and now our exceptional team serves thousands of patients each month across our multiple verticals.
PurposeMed consists of three complex care business units: Freddie, Frida, and Foria, and partners with Affirming Care Pharmacy. Freddie is focused on improving sexual health through education, prevention, and treatment with a focus on the LGBTQ2S+ community—we’re now the largest HIV prevention service in Canada and have recently expanded to the USA to further increase access to care! Frida is changing the lives of patients with easier access to adult ADHD diagnosis, and fast and affordable treatment. Foria Clinic provides trans, non-binary, and gender-diverse Canadians with gender-affirming healthcare. Affirming Care Pharmacy is a specialty pharmacy with locations in Calgary, Alberta, and Mississauga, Ontario. This partnership provides our patients with an end-to-end healthcare experience, from treatment, to prescription delivery, to continuous affirming care.
We’re one of LinkedIn’s Top 15 Startups in Canada, the #2 Company-to-Watch in Deloitte’s prestigious Technology Fast 50® program, and a member of the Team True North® roster as one of Canada’s fastest-growing and most promising startups. Our culture is highly mission-driven; our team is passionate about bringing healthcare to those who need it most. Best of all—we have fun doing it.

Who we hope to find:
PurposeMed is looking for a Senior Manager, Clinical Partnerships. In this role, you will build and nurture relationships with sexual health and community clinics, to establish a mutually beneficial patient referral channel. At PurposeMed, our Freddie brand has unparalleled expertise in HIV prevention and care, delivered by affirming and compassionate clinicians. Our Affirming Care pharmacy specializes in serving LGBTQ2S+ sexual health needs. You will engage clinics that would benefit from having Freddie and Affirming Care as trusted partners to support their patients, you will communicate the ongoing value we provide, and ensure an exceptional experience for referred patients and referring clinics. Through this role, you will be at the forefront of scaling our impact on the LGBTQ2S+ community, by driving awareness of our services with those most in need.
In this role, you’ll make an impact by:
- Expanding our clinic partner referral channel: Lead our prospecting activities for one major urban centre, including identifying relevant clinics, initiating outreach (virtual and in-person), communicating PurposeMed’s services and the benefits of potential partnership in the context of the clinics’ needs, and supporting new clinics to get set up with referral logistics.
- Maintaining strong relationships with clinic partners: Manage relationships with our network of clinic partners, through periodic engagement, providing them with performance reporting, updating them on additions or improvements to our services, and whenever possible, finding new ways to provide value to their clinics.
- Improving the experience for partners and referred patients: Deeply understand and work to continuously improve the experience of a patient being referred into PurposeMed by their clinic, and the clinic/clinician experience of making a referral. Proactively solicit feedback from clinic partners, and partner with cross-functional teams internally to drive changes.
- Co-developing our clinical partnership program: Collaborate with members of our executive team to define a scalable model for growing clinic partnerships across Canada and the USA. This will include (for example) refining the approach and materials we use to engage clinics, defining a scalable account management model, improving tracking and reporting of referrals.
We need someone who has:
- Experience working in HIV prevention or care—representing PurposeMed to partners requires this role to speak credibly and confidently about our services
- A passion for PurposeMed's mission and solving healthcare challenges for underserved communities
- 5+ years experience in a role in partnerships, business development, account management, or community engagement, with a proven track record of success
- Track record of building strong relationships—the ideal candidate will have a history of building relationships anchored in trust, empathy, and collaboration
- Excellent communication—this role will require the ability to listen deeply, understand the needs of clinician partners, and communicate the value of Freddie and Affirming Care’s services in a genuine way
- Tenacity and drive—a strong candidate must be highly self-motivated, persist in the face of challenges, and creatively overcome obstacles with a bias to action
- Strong organization skills—this role will be managing a wide and varied group of clinic partners, with different needs, at various stages of partnership, which requires a methodical approach to build our network, while nurturing existing relationships
- A strategic mindset—this role will need to determine when and how to adapt their approach given the characteristics of a potential partner, to achieve a great outcome. A strong candidate will prioritize where they focus their efforts, weighing effort vs. impact.
It would also be great if you have:
- A deep understanding of, or lived experience within, the communities that Freddie serves
- Experience collaborating with clinical services
Compensation:
- Base Salary: $100,000 - $110,000 CAD/year
- Variable Bonus: On target payout of $80,000 CAD/year; uncapped upside potential
- Earn stock options through our Equity Incentive Plan—connect your efforts to PurposeMed’s growth as we work together to improve the lives of our patients across North America.
- The compensation listed above refers to a yearly base salary that may vary depending on a candidate's relevant qualifications, knowledge, competencies and work experience, and other factors including market conditions. Base pay is just one aspect of our total rewards at PurposeMed—see our other exciting benefits below!
