Bounteous is looking for a multi-solution commerce architect with deep technical expertise in commerce platforms and commerce related technology to join our growing Digital Experience Platforms practice serving as a Director of Commerce. Although this role will have an opportunity to work with various technology, experience with Adobe Commerce required. This position necessitates knowledge of varying industry trends, commerce solutioning best practices, and commerce related technologies, so the ideal candidate should possess a desire to continually learn, improve and apply subject matter expertise to individual client needs and sales situations.
Positioned to ensure a seamless transition from pre-sales to delivery teams, this role serves as a trusted advisor to client and platform partners, with a primary focus on optimizing customer experiences and commerce operations through the the effective use of platforms. A strong understanding of broader commerce technologies to design scalable architectures and strategies for successful platform implementations and launches is critical to success. The role partners with client service and business development teams to identify and expand account opportunities, creating solutions that maximize customer value through commerce platforms.
A person in this role severs as a trusted advisor to our clients in leveraging their commerce solutions and helping them maximize the value they drive from their tools - not just through initial implementation but on an ongoing basis. They also help set up our delivery teams for success and oversee delivery as necessary to meet client objectives. This high-visibility role supports partnerships with Adobe and other platforms to foster innovation, drive product adoption, achieve company certifications, and influence product roadmaps.
Responsibilities:
• Serve as a commerce technical expert with a focus on commerce platforms and a working knowledge of commerce adjacent technology (OMS, DOM, PIM, CMS)
• Maintain subject matter expertise as platforms evolve
• Able to create and articulate the technology vision to clients and architect an end-state, or reference-state architecture and achieve client buy-in
• Stay on top of industry trends and ability and willingness to learn about and speak to a variety of platforms
• Identify and build out packaged offerings and/or accelerators to assist in sales and create more efficiencies leading to strong customer value realization and/or optimizations.
• Collaborate with platform partners on product roadmap advisory, feature exploration and development, and integration solutions and approaches
• Partner with client service and business development to support new business development and follow-on client work
• Strategize, architect, and create approaches for scalable, tailored platform implementations
• Maintain expertise on architectural styles and approaches, such as headless and composable commerce, and guide clients on the best solutions for their needs.
• Present and articulate subject matter expertise through compelling client presentations
• Scope estimates and collaborate on multi-solution and multi-platform solutioning and scoping
• Lead customer-facing workshops, demos, and hands-on labs
• Provide deep domain expertise in client business, technology stack, and data infrastructure, complemented by a wide-ranging knowledge base in digital marketing
• Partner with Commerce Managers to support Run and Operate Commerce programs and ensure an understanding of key KPIs/metrics across commerce clients
• Provide thought leadership in the commerce space and help Bounteous differentiate as the go-to partner in this space
• Develop deep knowledge of each client's business and available data to ensure platform solutioning is on par with client's marketing objectives
• Translate business needs into detailed technical requirements for platform configuration, data schemas and system integrations to deliver against business needs
• Oversee and steer client programs and development work to meet client objectives
• Provide support to development teams with solutioning
Preferred Qualifications:
• 10+ years of experience working with commerce technology and driving commerce solutions
• 3+ years of experience at a digital-first, global delivery agency/consultancy
• Strong consultative and client-facing skills; comfortable presenting to C-level or Board
• Working knowledge of the Adobe Commerce, including App Builder/API mesh, and Edge delivery
• Experience with other commerce platforms, such as BigCommerce, Shopify or Commercetools is desirable. Must be willing to develop a working knowledge of these platforms.
• Familiarity with the commerce landscape and tools and technologies that support a larger commerce implementation such as OMS, DOM, PIM, WMS.
• Experience integrating commerce platforms with other solutions - both on the front-end and back-end
• Self-driven; the ability to work independently, define a way forward, and solve problems with limited direction; proven capacity to drive results in an evolving and complex organization
• Strong communicator with all levels of leadership, management, and staff to achieve desired outcomes and build strong alliances and relationships
• Outstanding executive presence, presentation, and negotiation skills; the ability to inspire, engage, partner with, and influence senior leadership
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Digitally-savvy and well-informed on innovations, trends, and technologies
• Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Analytics, or related field or equivalent work experience preferred
