This Old House is a leading home enthusiast brand –– serving over 20 million consumers each month with trusted information and expert advice.  Roku acquired This Old House Ventures (including its production arm based in Concord, MA and its business arm based in Stamford, CT) in 2021.  The multi-platform business anchored on the Emmy-award winning shows, This Old House (TOH) and Ask This Old House (ATOH) is the foundation of Roku Studios. 

 

About the role

This Old House Productions is seeking an Associate Producer for the Emmy® award-winning television series, Ask This Old House. The Associate Producer will assist the producing team in creating 26 episodes of the PBS series each year. The ideal candidate is a highly organized producer with a passion for and a deep curiosity in DIY and home improvement content. He/she is a practical storyteller with a desire to inform and educate as much as entertain in the segments he/she creates.

 

What you'll be doing:

  • Identifying compelling house projects and homeowners for potential television segments both locally and across the country
  • Working with the cast and producing team to determine the size and scope of each project
  • Coordinating with the sales and marketing teams to source the materials required to tackle the project
  • Building and acquiring additional props, tools, and materials as needed
  • Assisting with field production on location
  • Ensuring all segments of the show are filmed and edited accurately and clearly
  • Reviewing cuts of segments for which he/she is responsible and assisting Senior Producer with reviewing final versions of episodes
  • Writing episode descriptions, credits, and resource listings for web content associated with television segments
  • Assisting both the social media team and PR team with relevant content and materials related to the promotion of the series and the This Old House® brand at large
  • Some travel is required and is estimated to be about 15 days per year in a normal year

 

We are excited if you have:

  • 5-6 years of work experience in television or video production, with special consideration for home improvement, how-to, DIY, or lifestyle content 
  • Ability to both work independently and collaborate with various teams throughout the company
  • Ability to thrive under pressure
  • Strong writing skills
  • Scheduling/budgeting experience
  • Experience with Monday.com or a similar project management software
  • Basic understanding of Adobe Creative Suite
  • Basic understanding of CatDV, Frame.io, or other media asset managers a plus
  • Basic home improvement skills and knowledge, with an eagerness to learn more
