Named two years in a row to the Globe & Mail’s list of the Top Growing Companies in Canada and also awarded spots on Deloitte’s Technology Fast 50™ and Fast 500™ lists, we’re looking to add curious, hard-working, and driven individuals to our growing team.

Clutch is backed by a number of world-class investors, including D1 Capital, Altos Ventures, BMO Capital Partners, Canaan, Real Ventures, and others. To learn more, visit clutch.ca.

We’re growing rapidly, with in‑house re‑conditioning centres, a captive lending platform and a national logistics network, we combine manufacturing‑grade operations with tech‑enabled consumer experience. We plan to list publicly within 24–36 months and are building the finance foundation to get there.

The role

You will be the company’s Corporate Controller, owning all things accounting: from a streamlined month-end close to inventory costing, IFRS compliance, external audit, designing and implementing a strong internal controls environment, managing the AP and AR functions, tax compliance, and IPO readiness. You will design the framework  that turns thousands of data points per vehicle into clean, decision‑grade financial reporting, and lead a growing team that loves the craft of accounting as much as you do. You will participate in cross-functional projects, contributing financial expertise to broader business initiatives.

What you’ll do

  • Build and run the monthly, quarterly, and annual close; deliver accurate, analytical financial statements on tight deadlines.
  • Own cost and inventory accounting.
  • Design and implement internal‑control, risk‑management, and policy frameworks to achieve NI 52‑109/SOX compliance ahead of IPO.
  • Lead external audits and statutory reporting; manage relationships with auditors, tax advisors, and regulators.
  • Drive ERP/finance‑stack evolution; partner with Engineering and Ops to integrate our home‑built ERP with AP automation, payments, and inventory modules.
  • Build, mentor, and scale an accounting team; set clear performance standards and foster a culture of ownership and precision.
  • Build and leverage automations to improve efficiency, and reduce cost and risk.
  • Provide proactive insights to the rest of the business on vehicle‑level margins, cost drivers, and working‑capital turns.
  • With your team, you’ll own the full tax cycle; prepare or review the quarterly and annual tax provision under IFRS, ensure on‑time filing of all federal, provincial and U.S. returns (income, GST/HST, payroll, property), and manage CRA/IRS audits or inquiries.
  • Advise on tax planning and structuring for new business lines, inventory finance facilities, captive‑lending SPVs and cross‑border vehicle sales; coordinate with external advisors and the Capital Markets/Treasury team to optimise after‑tax cash flow.

What you bring

  • CPA with 10+ years’ progressive accounting leadership, including at least one high‑growth company that went through an IPO, RTO or became SOX/NI 52‑109 compliant while you were there.
  • Deep manufacturing or complex supply‑chain experience: cost accounting, inventory valuation, production labor, and overhead allocation are second nature.
  • Command of IFRS (and ideally U.S. GAAP) plus advanced knowledge of revenue recognition, leasing, consolidation, complex equity / debt transactions, and share-based compensation.
  • Demonstrated success standing up robust internal‑control environments and modern ERP/finance systems (NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or similar).
  • Demonstrated ownership of corporate income‑tax accounting and compliance at a growth or public company (IFRS tax provision, GST/HST, transfer‑pricing, U.S. state nexus).
  • Ability to translate tax implications into clear business guidance and partner with operations, treasury and legal to implement efficient structures.
  • Relentless attention to detail, ownership mentality, and a passion for building processes from the ground up (and iterating on them to improve automation and efficiency, and reduce risk).
  • Experience building and leading teams.
  • Superb communicator able to translate accounting insights to non‑finance partners.

Nice to have

  • Automotive, marketplace, consumer‑credit, or captives experience.
  • Prior involvement in setting up a captive lending SPV or warehouse facility.

Why Clutch

  • Green‑field build: architect the finance stack that will underpin a future TSX/NYSE listing.
  • Operational depth: sit at the intersection of ecommerce, manufacturing, and fintech.
  • High‑calibre team: report directly to a CFO who values accounting craftsmanship and gives you a seat at the strategy table.
  • Competitive package: market cash, meaningful equity, full benefits, and an in‑office culture built on transparency and pace.
