Narvar is growing! Narvar’s DNA (Data and Analytics) team is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our data team. In this role, you will oversee the design, development, and optimization of large-scale batch data processing systems, reporting and analytics platforms. Your team’s work will enable efficient data pipelines and warehouses, providing critical reports and insights that drive business decisions for our retailers. You will foster a culture of accountability and innovation, ensuring your team delivers results in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Day-to-day

  • Lead the Data & Analytics team: Manage and mentor a team of engineers focused on batch data processing and reporting/analytics.
  • Develop Scalable Data Pipelines: Oversee the development and implementation of high-performance batch data pipelines and infrastructure.
  • Develop and Enhance Reporting Tools: Oversee the development, maintenance, and enhancement of reporting platforms such as Hub Reporting, Metabase, and Looker.
  • Embed Analytics: Lead the initiative to provide embedded analytics solutions that seamlessly integrate analytics into our products and services.
  • Metric Standardization: Drive the standardization of metrics across the organization to ensure consistency and accuracy in reporting.
  • Support Monitor Product: Oversee the support and enhancement of the Monitor product to provide valuable insights and analytics.
  • Collaborate Cross-functionally: Work closely with product, analytics, and engineering teams to integrate data insights into business processes.
  • Drive Innovation: Stay updated on industry trends in data engineering and cloud infrastructure to enhance our data capabilities.
  • Ensure Data Reliability: Continuously improve the quality, performance, and reliability of data systems.
  • Project Management: Apply agile methodologies to ensure timely delivery of high-quality data solutions aligned with organizational priorities.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in data engineering, data infrastructure, or technical leadership roles.
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams, balancing both technical leadership and people management responsibilities.
  • Proven expertise with distributed batch processing systems (e.g., Apache Spark, Bigquery, Airflow).
  • Proven expertise with reporting and analytics platforms such as Superset, Metabase, Looker, or similar tools.
  • Proficiency in Python, Go, SQL, with experience in optimizing large-scale data systems.
  • Experience with cloud platforms like GCP or AWS for building scalable data architectures.

Bonus Points:

  • Experience in high-growth environments or startups, focusing on scaling data systems.
  • Experience with embedding analytics into products and services.
  • Experience working open table formats like Hudi/Iceberg/Delta Lake etc.
  • Expertise in data lakes, data warehousing, and DataOps.
  • Strong business acumen to align technical projects with overall business strategy.
