⭐Our Risk and Compliance team

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced compliance professional to help build our 2nd Line of Defence (2LoD) conduct and compliance capabilities for Monzo in Europe. We want to bring our Monzo magic to the EU and redefine the way that people interact with money. You will be at the forefront of ensuring we grow and scale in a safe and compliant manner. 

The Senior Regulatory Compliance Manager will play a leading role in ensuring the business achieves and maintains compliance with its regulatory requirements and that compliance risk management is embedded across the business. As part of the second line, this role will work closely with colleagues across the business including product, engineering, marketing, financial crime compliance and customer operations. 

This role will report to the Director of Conduct & Compliance Risk, and collaborate daily with senior leadership to build a world-class compliance function. 

🔑You’ll play a key role by…

  • Supporting the development of a robust compliance function across Monzo’s EU Bank, ensuring regulatory requirements are integrated into our business processes.  
  • Contributing to the development, review, and implementation of conduct and compliance related policies, procedures, and standards; working with 1LoD colleagues to ensure they are understood and applied consistently within the first line. 
  • Collaborating with marketing and product teams to ensure customer-facing content meets regulatory standards, and assess risk profiles of new products and marketing initiatives.
  • Providing advice and oversight to teams 1LoD teams across a range of regulatory topics, including in relation to outsourcing and third party risk management.  
  • Assisting in the preparation and presentation of regular conduct and compliance reports and Management Information to senior management.
  • Preparing periodic compliance risk assessments and assisting in the drafting and execution of the Annual Compliance Assurance Plan.   
  • Contributing to the ongoing horizon scanning and regulatory change management process. 
  • Assisting in the drafting and delivery of appropriate conduct and compliance related training and awareness initiatives across all levels of Monzo EU.
  • Deputise for the Director of Conduct & Compliance Risk at internal governance forums, as needed. 
  • Staying up-to-date with emerging regulatory obligations relevant to Monzo EU and participating in Monzo Group compliance forums and attending industry events, as necessary.  

🤩 We’d love to hear from you if…

  • You have prior experience in holding conduct and/or compliance related roles within a fintech, other financial institution or regulatory body.
  • You have meaningful experience in compliance related to banking rules, regulations, and industry standards practices, including experience of working in the compliance or audit function within a regulated financial services environment.
  • You’ve shown an ability to develop and manage comprehensive compliance programs that support business growth.
  • You have detailed knowledge and understanding of the regulatory environment in Ireland and the EU.
  • You have strong leadership, project management and communication skills, including consensus building while managing against tight deadlines. 
  • You can work collaboratively with various stakeholders across the Group.
  • You recognise the value of world-class compliance as a competitive advantage for a business like Monzo.
