The Role

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Controller - India with a strong US GAAP and technical accounting background to manage our local Indian entity and support group activities. This role will prioritize technical accounting expertise while also playing a pivotal role in building out a Center of Excellence (CoE) and managing the day-to-day operations of the Accounts Receivable (AR), Accounts Payable (AP), and General Ledger (GL) teams. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing complex financial operations, ensuring compliance with US GAAP and local regulations, and leading process optimization efforts while developing and mentoring teams.

What You’ll Do 

  • US GAAP and Entity Management:

    • Ensure financial operations align with US GAAP, technical accounting standards, and local Indian regulations.
    • Oversee the preparation and submission of statutory financial statements, tax filings, and local audits.
    • Manage Monthly TDS and GST filings and oversee annual income tax returns and reconciliations across entities.

    2. Group Support Activities:

    • Support the global finance team by contributing to preparatory tasks for group reporting, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial data.
    • Assist with data collection, reconciliations, and processes that facilitate group reporting and consolidation.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with corporate policies.

    3. Center of Excellence (CoE) Development:

    • Establish and develop a Center of Excellence to centralize and optimize key financial processes across AR, AP, GL, and other accounting functions.
    • Drive process improvements and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
    • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the CoE.

    4. Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and General Ledger Management:

    • Accounts Receivable (AR): Oversee invoicing, collections, and cash application, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.
    • Accounts Payable (AP): Ensure timely vendor payments, invoice processing, and AP aging management, working closely with procurement and operations.
    • General Ledger (GL): Manage reconciliations, month-end close processes, and ensure compliance with internal controls.
    • Resolve billing, payment, and general accounting issues in collaboration with internal stakeholders.

    5. Team Leadership and Development:

    • Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team across AR, AP, GL, and other accounting functions.
    • Provide guidance, training, and development opportunities to support team growth and professional advancement.
    • Foster an inclusive and collaborative work environment that emphasizes accountability and excellence.

    6. Stakeholder Collaboration:

    • Partner with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors, tax advisors, and banking partners.
    • Serve as a key contact for finance-related matters for the local entity and broader organization.

What You Bring 

  • Total of 12+ years experience, including:

    • Chartered Accountant (CA) or equivalent qualification with 4+ years of experience in a Big Four accounting firm, specializing in US GAAP and technical accounting.
    • At least 3 additional years of managerial experience post-Big Four, managing teams in financial operations and accounting.
    • Strong knowledge of Indian accounting standards, tax regulations, TDS, GST, and income tax compliance.
    • Proven ability to lead and manage AR, AP, GL, and other accounting functions.

    Skills:

    • Advanced understanding of US GAAP and local compliance requirements.
    • Leadership skills with a proven ability to build and manage high-performing teams.
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail capabilities.
    • Proficiency in financial systems (SAP preferred) and advanced Excel skills.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
    • Adaptability and resilience in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
