About the role

Autonomous system development across ground, aerial, maritime, and space domains relies on large-scale simulation infrastructure that must run reliably on government networks (e.g., AWS GovCloud, Arcus, SUNet). As a Production Engineer at Applied Intuition, you’ll be at the forefront of deploying, scaling, and maintaining mission-critical infrastructure in high-security environments.

Our workloads push the limits of traditional cloud and on-prem deployments, demanding high-reliability, scalable systems that can handle massive data generation and compute demands. You’ll solve complex infra challenges—optimizing performance in constrained networks, ensuring uptime in air-gapped environments, and enabling interoperability with diverse autonomy software stacks.

You’ll work across engineering, product, and government teams to drive seamless integration, deployment, and operation in mission-critical environments. This means tackling real-world constraints, deploying directly into customer-owned infrastructure, and ensuring operational success for government partners who rely on our systems.

If you want to build high-performance, real-world infrastructure that supports cutting-edge autonomy in challenging, high-stakes environments, this is the place.

At Applied Intuition, you will:

  • Deploy & maintain mission-critical infra on government networks with high reliability and minimal downtime
  • Optimize performance in air-gapped, hybrid cloud, and constrained network environments
  • Automate & streamline deployments by building internal tooling, CI/CD pipelines, and security monitoring

We're looking for someone who has:

  • Experience in cloud infrastructure, networking, security, or large-scale software systems
  • Strong practical coding ability (Python, Go, C++, or similar) and shell scripting (e.g., Bash)
  • Experience with microservice orchestration (Kubernetes), containerization (Docker), and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform)
  • Exposure to government networks, access controls, and security frameworks
  • US Citizenship
  • Willingness to obtain a security clearance (active clearance is a plus)

Nice to have:

  • Security certifications (e.g., CCNA-Security, CySA+, CND, Security+ CE)
  • Experience with open-source tooling

Compensation at Applied Intuition for eligible roles includes base salary, equity, and benefits. Base salary is a single component of the total compensation package, which may also include equity in the form of options and/or restricted stock units, comprehensive health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance coverage, 401k retirement benefits with employer match, learning and wellness stipends, and paid time off. Note that benefits are subject to change and may vary based on jurisdiction of employment.

Applied Intuition pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum intended target base salary for new hire salaries for the position. The actual base salary offered to a successful candidate will additionally be influenced by a variety of factors including experience, credentials & certifications, educational attainment, skill level requirements, interview performance, and the level and scope of the position.

Please reference the job posting’s subtitle for where this position will be located. For pay transparency purposes, the base salary range for this full-time position in the location listed is: $65,000 - $400,000 USD annually.

Don’t meet every single requirement? If you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with every qualification in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.
