About the Role:

Upgrade is looking for a talented and experienced Learning and Development Instructional Design Supervisor to join our dynamic team. In this leadership role, you'll play a pivotal role in overseeing the creation and delivery of high-quality learning programs that empower employees across the organization. You'll not only leverage your own ID expertise but also guide and mentor a team of Instructional Designers, ensuring a consistent and impactful learning experience for all.

This is an on-site position based in our downtown Phoenix office.


What You’ll Do: 

  • Strategic Leadership:
    • Partner with business leaders to identify skill gaps and learning needs.
    • Translate business objectives into comprehensive learning strategies and roadmaps.
    • Manage the Learning and Development budget for instructional design projects.
  • Instructional Design Expertise:
    • Maintain a deep understanding of adult learning principles and best practices.
    • Develop high-quality learning materials using diverse methodologies (eLearning modules, instructor-led training, simulations, etc.).
    • Stay current on emerging learning technologies and instructional design trends.
  • Team Management & Mentorship:
    • Provide coaching, guidance, and performance feedback to Instructional Designers.
    • Foster a collaborative and supportive learning and development environment.
    • Ensure clear communication and delegation of tasks across the ID team.
  • Quality Assurance & Improvement:
    • Implement a quality assurance process for all learning materials and programs.
    • Analyze learning program effectiveness through assessments and feedback mechanisms.
    • Continuously identify opportunities for improvement in learning content and delivery.
  • Project Management:
    • Manage multiple instructional design projects simultaneously, ensuring adherence to deadlines and budgets.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders across departments to ensure project success.
    • Utilize project management tools and methodologies effectively.

What We Look For:

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, or related field (Master's degree preferred)
  • 7+ years of experience in instructional design, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role
  • Proficiency in instructional design software (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, AI Based tools)
  • Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience working with learning management systems (LMS)
