Job Description

**About the Role** Uber started by transporting people from place to place. It now transports nearly anything a customer could want or need, on-demand. Grocery & Retail is one of the largest growth bets for Uber, bringing on-demand grocery delivery to customers of Uber Eats around the world. You would be joining the Storefront engineering team, which focuses on providing delightful shopping experiences for consumers and helping them discover items within the Grocery & Retail storefront. **What You'll Do** - You will collaborate with stakeholders and team members to design and develop features that meet the design, functionality, and complex needs of our users. - You will work on expanding the features available on the Grocery Storefront, as well as focus on improving the code quality and efficiency of the codebase - Strong communication skills - Deliver and review technical design, code and documentation. - Drive ongoing efficiency and reliability improvements through design and automation: availability, performance, scaling, monitoring and capacity. - Manage upstream and downstream dependencies, collaborate with other engineering teams - Define standards in coding, testing, monitoring, and alerting systems and lead team to complete them. **Basic Qualifications** - Experience shipping high quality projects at scale (100k+ users) to production - Technical software engineering experience in one or more of the following areas: - Backend Programming language (e.g. Go, Java, Python, etc) - Latency optimization of high throughput services **Preferred Qualifications** - PhD or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field OR 2-years full-time Software Engineering work experience, WHICH INCLUDES 2-years total technical software engineering experience in one or more of the following areas: - API design - Scalability engineering - Distributed systems - Latency optimizations - Experience designing clear architectural documents and delivering projects against them - Extensive experience in a product facing role - Aiming to always deliver high quality, scalable code, while also being able to breakdown deliverables into actionable milestones, allowing for reduced time to market For New York, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$158,000 per year - USD$175,500 per year. You will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
