**About the Role**

As a Women's Safety team engineer, you will work with Uber's core business marketplace technology. Safety is paramount for Uber, especially for women, so you'll use real-time telematics and motion sensing technologies along with multi-faceted machine learning algorithms and user-facing mobile products to reduce and prevent unsafe driving and behavior on the Uber platform.
**What You Will** **Do:**
- Design and develop scalable backend systems and services that solve fraud and abuse problems as well as drive better user experiences across Uber Products and Lines of Businesses
- Work on cutting edge technologies to automatically verify images and documents.
- Build large scale systems to find similarities and relationships between various entities such as users, devices, images etc.
- Work with cross functional teams like Product Manager, Data Scientists/Analysts to help define problem space, contribute to product requirement, design and develop system solutions.
- Collaborate with other engineering teams in Uber Marketplace, Payments Systems and PMs to drive end-to-end design, execution and product rollout.
- Integrate with business systems dealing with risk, safety, and compliance
**Minimum qualifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field **OR** +3 years of total software engineering experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Programming language (e.g. C, C++, Java, Python, or Go)
- _Note the 1-year total of specialized software engineering experience may have been gained through education and full-time work experience, additional training, coursework, research, or similar (OR some combination of these). The year of specialized experience is not necessarily in addition to the years of Education & full-time work experience indicated._

The Safety team uses real-time telematics and motion sensing technologies along with multi-faceted machine learning algorithms and user-facing mobile products to reduce and prevent unsafe driving and behavior on the Uber platform! Our work touches all parts of the Uber experience from dispatch to on-trip and post-trip, as well as Uber's entire ecosystem ranging from our rides business to other newer Uber marketplaces, and ventures.
