The SPSE Science Team is looking for an Applied Scientist to build statistical and machine learning solutions that help us understand and solve our most challenging problems. We need to better understand our Sellers and the problems they face, to augment our human workforce with smarter tools, to anticipate problems so that we are prepared to deal with them, to automatically diagnose and resolve issues, and to identify opportunities to grow and improve.

In this role, you will lead a team of scientists who have ownership of the end-to-end development of solutions to complex problems and you will play an integral role in strategic decision-making. You will also work closely with engineers, operations teams, product owners to build ML pipelines, platforms and solutions that solve problems of defect detection, automation, and workforce optimization.


Key job responsibilities
Lead a team of Applied Scientists who specialize in NLP and GenAI systems.

Develop the talent of the scientists on the team.

Work closely with business partners and teams of scientists and software engineers to drive real-time model implementations and deliver novel and highly impactful features.

Help design, develop and deploy highly innovative ML systems to interact with Sellers and delight them with solutions.

Help establish scalable, efficient, automated processes for large scale data analyses, model development, model validation and model implementation.

Implement industry best practices for ML Operational Excellence.

Participate in strategic initiatives to employ the most recent advances in ML in a fast-paced, experimental environment.

Build with state-of-the-art machine learning techniques to create the next generation of the tools that empower Amazon's Selling Partners to succeed.

About the team
Selling Partner Support Engagement (SPSE) Science is a team of scientists engaged in the research and development of the next generation of ML-driven technology to empower Amazon's Selling Partners to succeed. We draw from many science domains, from Natural Language Processing to Computer Vision to Operational Research, to create solutions that seamlessly and automatically engage with Sellers, solve their problems, and help them grow. Focused on collaboration, innovation and strategic impact, we work closely with other science and technology teams, product and operations organizations, and with senior leadership, to transform the Selling Partner experience.- 3+ years of scientists or machine learning engineers management experience
- Knowledge of ML, NLP, Information Retrieval and Analytics- Experience building machine learning models or developing algorithms for business application
- Experience building complex software systems, especially involving deep learning, machine learning and computer vision, that have been successfully delivered to customers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $165,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $286,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
