About the role
The Director of Product owns the Shopping experience across our core brands HelloFresh and Factor, across all markets. As a food company, this journey is the most important flow our customers go through. This is where we present our upcoming menu and help customers find the right selection of ready-to-eat or cookable meals included in their subscription, personalized to their shopping history and profile, and also offer the feature of adding additional items from a traditional e-commerce shop.
With an ever-growing assortment and modularity of options in all our 18 markets, this role is tasked to solve the complex challenge to help customers discover food they like, educate them about our food, manage their deliveries and provide a smooth shopping & checkout experience. This Director of Product contributes directly to P&L impact from the shopping success, and owns a large portion of our ambitious engagement & retention goals.
This is a strategic leadership position in our Active Journey Alliance, a newly- formed alliance focused on enhancing the entire active customer journey across our biggest brands. You will interface with multiple departments and stakeholders from Engineering, UX, Science, Commercial and Operations to derive and execute a long-term plan, and help us innovate our business and monetization model.
What you’ll do
- Own the Shopping journey globally: Be responsible for the entire shopping journey for millions of active customers, including discovery of our menu, premium recipes and add-on items personalized to customer preferences, basket composition, recipe individualization (e.g. swap ingredients), product education and checkout - across HelloFresh’s Meal Kit & Ready-to-Eat business.
- Lead and develop a team of worldclass product leaders and organize the team for success against our ambitious goals. Be part of the Active Journey Alliance leadership team and shape the overall product & strategic direction for all Active customers in our biggest brands.
- Build a long-term vision: Articulate a long-term vision for our shopping & checkout space, that involves both continuous optimization of our existing journeys through rapid A/B testing, but also big bets on new merchandising and monetization approaches with 0-1 products. Go deep on customer behavior data and raise the bar in analytical understanding of shopping behavior and needs from our customers
- Own and execute the multi-year roadmap together with your engineering & UX partners, delivering against the long-term vision with significant P&L impact and improvement of our most important customer metrics. Collaborate with tech, commercial & operational leaders to execute in lockstep across all teams, e.g. our Assortment teams in charge of providing new and innovative selections in each market.
What you’ll bring
- 8+ years in product management with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Strong background in consumer tech, e-commerce, or subscription-based platforms, preferably in food tech or logistics-focused industries
- Proven track record in solving retention & customer engagement problems at large consumer brands, preferably subscription-based, by optimizing existing products and successfully launching new innovative products.
- Experience in shipping to iOS, Android & Web across markets and brands.
- Strong analytical problem solving approach paired with excellent business acumen.
- Advanced problem solving skills with the ability to simplify complex problems through effective verbal and written communication to convert them into actionable plans that deliver results.
- Ability to influence people and facilitate agreements among various audiences such as senior leadership, engineering, product, UX and commercial stakeholders
