Job Description

On-site

AbCellera is breaking the barriers of conventional drug development to propel antibody-based medicines from target to clinic. We are a team of scientists, engineers, creatives, and business professionals who believe that advancing science enhances lives. We have developed technologies to unlock high-value drug targets, including antibody-drug conjugates and T-cell engagers for cancer, and complex transmembrane proteins for indications such as metabolic and endocrine conditions, pain, and autoimmunity.

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in a relevant field to join our Laboratory Operations team as a co-op or intern for an 8 month term, starting in May 2025. This position is ideal for an individual with a strong interest in laboratory operations, who is keen to learn how we ensure our lab teams are well supported and have everything they need for their day-to-day operations. You will be working together with our dynamic team on maintaining inventories, supporting the lab teams with various lab services, and keeping our labs in the best working condition.

While in this on-site position, based in beautiful Vancouver, you will receive guidance and supervision from experienced team members within the Lab Operations team. The internship is designed to offer exposure to real-world projects and the opportunity to contribute to the goal of producing first-in-class and best-in-class antibody therapeutics for patients.

How you might spend your days

  • Maintaining the lab space and restocking supplies
  • Maintaining inventories for equipment, consumables and reagents
  • Requesting lab specific consumables through our procurement software
  • Following up with lab users to identify future inventory needs
  • Performing routine internal maintenance of lab equipment
  • Maintaining SOPs; documenting and evaluating best practices
  • Coordinating activities with the rest of the lab management team and other labs
  • Maintaining a safe and productive work environment and lab facility, compliant with regulatory requirements
  • Supporting the team whenever an extra pair of hands is needed

We’d love to hear from you if

  • You are enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma program in a relevant field
  • You thrive in a collaborative environment and have a strong interest in how laboratory teams operate
  • You have excellent documentation and organizational skills with impeccable attention to detail
  • You enjoy working in a fast-paced work environment and coordinating with your team to juggle multiple competing priorities
  • You take pride in being a self-motivated person, fast learner, team player, and creative problem solver

What we offer

AbCellera’s hiring range for this role is CAD $3,300 - $3,700 per month, commensurate with your education and job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to base pay, we offer a number of ways to support AbCellerites in maximizing their work-life synergy. You will have a vacation allowance as well as additional days off as part of our company-wide office closures (a real value to all!), and sick leave time while on your internship. Scientific and technical mentorship is a priority. And you’ll find we prioritize teams and social groups to build community and connections across AbCellera.
