The Retail Infrastructure Services team within Amazon Worldwide Grocery Store Tech is looking for a passionate and innovative Technical Program Manager (TPM) to join our team. We have an opportunity to revolutionize the brick-and-mortar grocery shopping experience and set new standards for accessing the highest quality organic and natural groceries across the US, Canada, and the UK in Whole Foods Market and Amazon Fresh banner stores.
As a TPM II, you will be a key member of tech initiatives and help drive forward technology solutions working with delivery teams, infrastructure engineers, database engineers, mobile engineers, and deployment program managers to create a best-in-class grocery shopping experience. The candidate must possess the ability to facilitate technical whiteboard sessions to troubleshoot project implementation issues and remove barriers to project success. Being able to stand up cross-functional teams, establish trust with a variety of stakeholders, design solutions, remove blockers, and find creative ways to accelerate project delivery is a must. The ideal candidate will be an exceptionally strong communicator, both written and verbally, and possess experience in tactical project management of highly technical initiatives, as well as strategic program management. They will be able to apply a variety of project management tools, methodologies and techniques for all phases of the project lifecycle and exhibit demonstrated experience in core project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, resources, quality and risk management, reporting, and metric development/tracking.
Key job responsibilities
The candidate will work through ambiguity, competing priorities, and be capable of understanding mechanical/electrical engineering concepts. Experience in managing distributed infrastructure deployments is a plus. Candidates possessing a background in architecture/design, infrastructure/hardware engineering, distributed infrastructure/operations, and/or construction, who have transitioned to a program management discipline will have a distinct advantage. In the TPM role, you will be responsible for working with engineering teams to build solutions and prepare them for delivery to our store banners by our deployment program managers and third-party OEM and Field Service partners. These projects will include initiatives such as rolling out new technology to existing stores and leading engineering efforts to develop and implement creative solutions, leading AWS implementation projects, leading POS/SCO image engineering as well as printer and service scale efforts.
A day in the life
This TPM will be working closely with engineers to establish plans for the building and delivery of retail store solutions for Whole Foods Market and Amazon Fresh locations.
About the team
This team is responsible for leading complex and challenging projects that will deliver innovative infrastructure solutions for point-of-sale (POS), self-checkout (SCO), service scale, mobility, and printing solutions to our physical stores.- 3+ years of technical product or program management experience
- 3+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience
- Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
- 3+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience
- Technical program management experience working directly with infrastructure teams on hardware and operating systems level solutions
- 3+ years managing AWS engineering projects
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are a must
- Knowledge of best practices and emerging technologies, related to infrastructure (i.e. network, data center, hardware, software)
- Experience with varying scenarios of infrastructure builds- Experience building and evaluating system-level technical design
- Experience with infrastructure architecture and engineering is a plus
- Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership
- Experience managing third-party partner relationships
