Senior Data Scientist, Shared rides

**About the Role** The Uber Shared Rides team aims to create the most sustainable and efficient personal transportation on the planet. As a data scientist on the shared rides team, you will have the opportunity to make an outsized impact on this mission by working on projects spanning rider and driver pricing, matching, product design and more. As a scientist you will perform analysis, design experiments and build algorithms to improve the efficiency of shared rides and delight Uber riders and earners. This is a high visibility role that will provide opportunities to work with senior cross-functional leaders in product, engineering and operations. **\-\-\-\- What the Candidate Will Do ----** - Design, develop and test models for realtime pricing, matching and other optimizations in a complex marketplace - Use advanced statistical and causal inference techniques to measure fundamental econometric quantities such as incrementality and long term value; and design, run and analyze experiments - Generate data insights and identify opportunities for product and marketplace improvement - Use data insights, judgement and subject matter expertise to guide roadmap development **\-\-\-\- Basic Qualifications ----** - PhD. or M.S. or Bachelors degree in Economics, Statistics, Operations Research, Machine Learning, or other quantitative fields. - Knowledge of underlying mathematical foundations of economics, statistics, machine learning, optimization, and analytics. - Knowledge of experimental design and analysis. - Experience with exploratory data analysis, statistical analysis and testing, and model development. - Ability to use Python to work efficiently at scale with large data sets. Proficiency in SQL. **\-\-\-\- Preferred Qualifications ----** - 4+ years of industry experience - Experience in causal inference and other advanced econometric and statistical techniques. - Experience in algorithm development and prototyping. - Experience in productionizing ML or optimization algorithms. - Experience in pricing/matching in the on-demand/gig/shared economy. For New York, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$183,000 per year - USD$203,000 per year. You will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
