Your Role:
Tenable is not only building great products and carving out a completely new category, but we are also building a world-class engineering culture, and committed to hiring the very best. We are looking for a highly motivated Research Engineer to join our NASL Integrations Research Engineering Team. This position will involve learning, developing, and maintaining Nessus Attack Scripting Language (NASL) code to enable internally developed Tenable integrations to communicate with 3rd party software. Most notably for Privileged Access Management, Mobile Device Management, and Patch Management software.
Your Opportunity:
Technical analysis of 3rd party software APIs
Develop and maintain integration code written in NASL
Collaborate with 3rd party vendors to understand their product capabilities and APIs
Collaborate with other teams to extend NASL libraries and User Interfaces
Create or improve processes to produce faster and/or better outcomes
Troubleshoot, analyze, and address escalated customer technical issues to ensure timely problem resolution
Review current projects and understand the challenges that may need to be overcome for those projects to succeed
Take ownership of your projects and ensure their status is continually documented and communicated
Develop documentation for customers and other Tenable members related to the functionality and usage of NASL Integrations.
Leverage, maintain, and configure lab environment for team-related projects
Maintain in-depth knowledge of Tenable products and information security best-practices
May perform other duties and responsibilities that management may deem necessary from time to time

What You'll Need:
Must be a US Citizen
B.S. degree in Computer Science, or equivalent work experience
3+ years of software development experience with a language such as C/C++, Python, Ruby, or Perl.
Exposure to software development life cycle (SDLC) concepts and Agile methodology
Able to work both in a self-directed manner and as part of a team
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Able to respond quickly and shift priorities as needed
Able to provide and receive constructive feedback during code review and design review
Able to work hybrid/onsite location at HQ in Columbia MD
And Ideally:
Experience developing in the NASL programming language
Skilled in presentation on complex topics
Experience with system administration, including setting up complicated software environments for testing
Familiarity with Nessus Sensor and associated Tenable products

This is the base pay range for this position. Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including the candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, location and experience, and may fall outside of the range shown. Employees are also eligible for variable compensation in addition to base pay (commission for sales roles, bonus for non-sales roles), depending on company and individual performance.
